Nehemiah: Rebuilding After a Setback

“You cannot rebuild your future if you spend all your time mourning what broke.”

When Nehemiah heard that the walls of Jerusalem lay in ruins, leaving the people vulnerable and broken, he didn't just despair, he prayed, planned, and took action. Returning to a shattered city, he faced relentless mockery, threats, and exhaustion. Yet, Nehemiah kept his focus, rallied the community, and rebuilt the entire wall in just 52 days.

In today’s world, so many of us stand among our own broken walls. A failed business, retrenchment, a shattered dream, a setback in health, or a lapse in faith can leave us feeling exposed and defeated. It is easy to look at the rubble of our lives and believe it’s too late to start over.

Nehemiah teaches us that setbacks are not the end of the story; they are the starting point for God's restoration. True resilience means picking up the bricks when life breaks down and trusting God to rebuild something even stronger.

Our 9-Day celebration of our Feast of the Lady of the Assumption was in the Herald last weekend. 💙

Remember, dear Parishioners, and let us never forget the great love and mercy our Mother Mary has for us. And how patiently and tenderly, but firmly, she reminds us "Do whatever He tells you."

Wishing a very Blessed Sacerdotal Anniversary to Rev. Fr. Leonard Lexson! We give thanks to God for your faithful years of priestly ministry since your ordination on 30 August 1993. Thank you, Fr. Leonard, for your faithful leadership as Parish Priest at Church of the Assumption, PJ, your guidance in the Archdiocesan Liturgy Ministry, and your regional work with the Liturgical Music Committee across Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei.

May the Lord continue to shower you with good health, wisdom, peace, and joy as you shepherd His flock and enrich the liturgical life of our Church.

Today at the Church of the Assumption, Petaling Jaya, 55 Confirmands from our Catechism class were Sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit. ✝️🔥

This is not the end of a journey. It is the beginning of one. As their Parish, we continue to pray with everything in us that today's yes becomes a lifetime of yeses. In their quiet moments, in the harder times, in the ordinary Sundays, and in every step that follows. 🙏

May the Holy Spirit who descended on them today never let them go. 🥹 May they grow deeper, love bolder, and walk closer with God every single day.
