Bible Handling Skills (BHS) Melaka will be held on 8-9 August 2026 this year at Straits Baptist Church, Bukit Beruang, Melaka. This year, Dr Bill Salier will be taking us through the Book of Esther over this one and half day workshop.

BHS is a seminar for Christians who desire to grow in their understanding and handling the Bible better, whether you are small group leaders or lay preachers. Especially if you are based in Melaka, do take this opportunity to grow in the knowledge of God's Word.

It was a joyful occasion at our 2nd Graduation Service as we celebrated graduates from the Master of Divinity, Master in Christian Studies, Diploma in Theology, Diploma in Biblical Hebrew, Foundations for Expository Preaching, and Certificate in Theology programmes.

We thank God for His faithfulness in their journeys. Many have persevered over the years, and it was a joy to catch glimpses of their stories through the testimonies shared.

We pray that God will use them to build up His church in Malaysia and beyond, raising gospel-centred word-ministry workers who will also train others, for His glory.

On 28 February in Penang, 50 participants from 18 churches gathered for the KVBC Equip Bible Handling Skills Seminar: Reading Proverbs with Dr Lindsay Wilson. We’re thankful for the rich teaching, thoughtful questions, and shared desire to handle God’s Word with greater clarity and depth.

We thank God for every church represented and for the growing hunger to read Scripture well.

The book of Psalms has been a rich resource for God’s people throughout the centuries. It has much to teach us about the character of God, his workings in history and daily life, in times of joy and of sadness. Psalms are widely used in worship, in pastoral care and in preaching. Since many psalms are so well-known, preaching on them might seem at first glance to be quite easy. Yet, knowing more about the different kind of psalms, and the flow of the book as a whole, will enrich our ability to draw people close to God through our preaching. We will reflect on the distinctives of preaching from Psalms, and how to preach on different types of Psalms. The more skilled we are in preaching on Psalms, the more our listeners will be built up by this unique part of God’s word.

How do we read Proverbs? Registration for BHS: Reading Proverbs closes in 3 days!

Proverbs outlines how God works in his world in our daily lives. However, we need to be careful to understand them properly and use them well. Before the book gives detailed examples of wisdom in practice, it outlines 3 important principles: the importance of building on the right foundation; the shaping of our character; and the pursuit of wisdom not folly. These principles are then filled with topics such as speech, money, conflict, work, friends and family. Proverbs gives Christians today down-to-earth instructions about living ‘the good life’ in a way that is theologically rich and ultimately fulfilled in Christ.
