Living for Christ, Resting in Glory
"For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain." — Philippians 1:21
One year to the passing of our beloved Father, Rev Collin Gordon.
We mourn the loss of our beloved reverend, a faithful servant of Christ, yet we do not grieve as those without hope (1 Thessalonians 4:13). We know that his life was lived for Christ, and in his passing, he has entered into his eternal gain.
His life was a testament to the truth of the Gospel—a life poured out in service to the King, preaching Christ crucified, shepherding His flock, and pointing souls to the cross. He walked the narrow road, not seeking the applause of men, but pressing on toward the prize of the upward call of God (Philippians 3:14).
But his departure is not the end of his work. The Gospel he preached remains. The Christ he loved reigns. And we, who are still on this earthly pilgrimage, are called to carry the torch forward. The purpose of our lives is clear: to glorify God and enjoy Him forever, to proclaim the good news of salvation, and to walk in obedience until He calls us home.
Let us not grow weary. Let us not be distracted by the fleeting things of this world. Instead, let us press on, knowing that every labor in the Lord is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58). May we live with the same fervor and faithfulness as our dear brother, knowing that one day, we too shall see Christ face to face.
The race is not yet over for us. But for him, the fight is finished, the faith is kept, and the crown of righteousness awaits (2 Timothy 4:7-8). Blessed be the name of the Lord, who gives and takes away (Job 1:21), and blessed be the memory of His faithful servant, who now rests in the presence of His Savior.
Soli Deo Gloria.
