Moey She Temple is a Taishanese clan temple for Chinese people holding the surname "Moey" and its alternative forms, Boey, Moy, Mui and Mooi, among others. It is a Cantonese-style clan temple that was built along Penang Street in 1905. Much of the facade is of granite. At the front gate is a pair of ceramic lions perched on the gate. The eaves on the roof are decorated with eaves board and support
ed by tall granite pillars with lantern beams across them. On both sides of the front door of Moey She Temple are granite panels on which words of praise are inscribed. The roof is decorated with mystical beasts including the celestial fish and pearl. The temple is only one storeys high but the walls are built to a height of a two storey building. Inside the temple are wooden altars and other traditional Chinese furniture. Penang Moey She Temple (Mei Shi Jia Miao) or Mui Shi Ka Miu. Moey Fou Xing in 1841.It started by renting a shop house for assembly purposes.Sixty years later the members of Toishanese from China increase resulting the place was being too small for its activities.After several years of planning,the board raises fund to build the Moey She Temple located along Penang Street in the year of 1909. The Temple celebrated its 100 years anniversary which was the most memorial and meaningful event of the century for the Moey She Temple which also happens on the eve of Japanese Occupation. During the second world war , many buildings were destroyed . With the blessings of the Nan Jie Sheng Wang 南界聖王, Moey She Temple escaped the mishap , and the building is safe and intact.After the war, surrounding buildings were renovated and reconstructed. Over the years, Moey She Temple was in a state of need to repair and restore. With the help of the building committee and members donations from local and abroad , the building was renovated with the cost of RM 30, 000 as it stands today. The purpose of the temple was to bring together their members to form a unified and coherent family group and look into welfare of the members .Every year , there will be gathering on the second day of Chinese New Year, praying to ancestors on Cheng Meng day, giving cash award to primary and secondary school students of members, Spring Festival dinner, July Festival, honour of members children graduated from universities, Autumn Festival, Chinese Lunar 8th month, Mooncake festival and Chinese New Year eve vegetarian offerings and so on.
