🔥 BLESSED PENTECOST 🔥

"The love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit..." — Romans 5:5 🕊️

Today, the universal Church celebrates the Solemnity of Pentecost—the birthday of the Church!

We remember the incredible moment the Holy Spirit descended upon Mary and the Apostles, transforming fear into courage and igniting a mission that reaches all corners of the earth.

May the fire of God's love renew us, unite us, and send us forth as bold witnesses to the Gospel today and always.

"Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful, and enkindle in them the fire of Your love."

❤️ Let us pray together: What is one grace or fruit of the Holy Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness) you are praying for today? Drop your prayer in the comments below!

The bishops of Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei have concluded their Ad Limina Apostolorum visit to Rome (May 18–23, 2026). This intensive "working pilgrimage" was a profound time for our shepherds to renew their bond with the universal Church.

Highlights of the Visit:

Meeting with the Holy Father: A pivotal encounter with the Pope to report on the state of our local dioceses and seek pastoral guidance.

Masses at the Major Basilicas: Sacred Eucharistic celebrations held at the "thresholds of the Apostles," including the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran and the Vatican.

Pastoral Engagement: Engaging in vital dialogues with various Vatican Dicasteries. Notably, our own Bishop Bernard Paul led discussions on human development and Caritas, sharing the mission and challenges of our region.

A Special Glimpse: Inside this update post is a special photo of Our Bishop Bernard Paul with the iconic Pieta in St. Peter's Basilica, capturing a moment of profound prayer at the heart of the Church.

Let us continue to keep our shepherds closely in prayer. As they prepare to leave the Eternal City, we pray for a safe and peaceful long journey back home for Bishop Bernard Paul and all our regional bishops. May they return to us safely, renewed in spirit and pastoral zeal! ✨

The bishops from the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei (CBCMSB) are now in Rome undertaking their Ad Limina Apostolorum visit from 18 to 23 May 2026.

Throughout this week, our shepherds are making a spiritual pilgrimage to pray at the tombs of Saints Peter and Paul as they prepare for their audience with the Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV. They are also participating in a series of collaborative meetings with various Vatican Dicasteries to share the pastoral, administrative, and missionary life of our local dioceses.

We invite all the faithful across the diocese to remain closely united with them in spirit during these days. Please continue to keep our bishops in your daily prayers, asking the Lord to grant them wisdom, good health, and a deeply fruitful encounter that strengthens our region's communion with the universal Church. 🙏🏻

Today, we celebrate the 60th World Day of Social Communications! 🌐✨

In an era of rapid technological advancement and digital noise, this year’s theme brings us back to what truly matters: Preserving Human Voices and Faces.

Authentic communication isn't just about data, algorithms, or screens—it’s about the truth of the human experience. As we innovate, let's ensure our technology always serves to bring us closer together, keeping the human heart, voice, and face at the center of how we connect.

Let’s use our words and platforms today to build bridges, speak truth, and truly see one another. 💛

The Bishop of the Malacca Johore Diocese, together with the clergy, religious, and faithful, extends our heartfelt condolences to the Diocese of Sibu and to the family of Bishop Emeritus Dominic Su Haw Chiu, who passed away on 15 May 2026 at the age of 87. We give thanks for his life of devoted service as the first Bishop of Sibu, whose faithful shepherding, humility, and dedication to the Church from his priestly ordination in 1969 until his retirement in 2011 remain a lasting legacy. May the Lord grant him eternal rest and may perpetual light shine upon him. 🕊️
