CHANCERY NOTICE: BANNS OF ORDINATION TO THE DIACONATE ✝️

The Malacca Johore Diocese announces that Rt. Rev. Bernard Paul, D.D., Bishop of Malacca Johore, intends to call Seminarian Gabriel Puvaneswaran Pillai from the Church of Immaculate Conception, Johor Bahru, to the Sacred Order of the Diaconate.

Ordination Details:
Date: Tuesday, 20 October 2026
Time: 8:30 PM
Venue: Church of St Mary, Ayer Salak

In accordance with Canon 1051 §2 of the Code of Canon Law, this announcement serves as a public notice concerning his suitability for ordination. Anyone aware of any canonical impediment or serious matter concerning his suitability is asked to bring it to the attention of their Parish Priest or the Bishop, or communicate confidentially via [email protected].

Please keep Seminarian Gabriel in your prayers as he prepares to receive the Order of Deacon and serve the People of God.

Today, the Malacca Johore Diocese family joins in prayerful celebration of the Sacerdotal Anniversary of Rev. Fr. Jason Wong (9th Anniversary), Rev. Fr. Cyril Mannayagam (17th Anniversary) and Rev. Fr. Paul Wong (22nd Anniversary).

"The priest is not a priest for himself; he is for you." — St. John Paul II.

We give thanks to God for Fr. Jason, Fr. Cyril and Fr. Paul for their faithful "Yes" to God’s call and their many years of dedicated priestly ministry. Their commitment, service, and love for the People of God continue to be a blessing to our diocesan community.

May the Lord continue to grant them wisdom, strength, good health, and abundant joy as they faithfully serve Christ and His Church.
