This page was establish to re-connect with the Former Legionaries as well as to provide information on any upcoming activities that the committees have agreed to proceed on with the permission of Bro. Our aim is to rekindle the bonds of friendship with the former Legionaries of yesteryears and the current Legionaries as well as to bring back memories on how much LOM means to them. In collaborati

on with LOM, its is also fitting that anything related to Morning Prayer (MPB) and First Friday Mass (FFM) should also be posted here. Now as we approach 2020, our vision is to make LOM into an active Catholic Society in school than before. The Legionaries would also like to have the chance to grab to trophy of The Best Club/Society in school again, thus reliving the Glory Age of LOM all over again. Now with 60+ members, we hope that more Catholic boys in the school will join the Legion of Mary and be a part of Mary's Army to Pray and Do Good Works in order to reach out to people and to bring the Kingdom of God closer to their hearts through our Catholic Faith in action.

ATTENTION FRANCISCANS / LEGIONARIES

Due to some unforseen circumstances, First Friday Mass (FFM) for the month of October will be cancelled.

We also ask of all of you, in your great and sincere charity, to pray for the repose of the father of our Chapel caretaker who has just passed away today afternoon. May his soul rest in peace.

We will see you at our next FFM in November, God willing!

LAST MASS OF THE SCHOLASTIC YEAR 2024
First Friday Mass in the Month of December

Join us for our Final Monthly First Friday Mass for the year 2024. There will also be a special blessing for our SPM students at the end of the Holy Mass.

As per tradition, we will be singing the Glorious Patron as the Recessional Hymn. Rosary Recitation and Confessions will be done 30 mins before the Holy Mass begins at 7.30am.

Today we celebrate the 80th Birthday of our Spiritual Director, Brother Ambrose Loke!

A fun fact on our Spiritual Advisor:
In 2002, after the demise of Brother Robert who was the previous Spiritual Advisor, Brother Ambrose took up the post alongside Brother Michael. It has been 22 years since he became Spiritual Advisor to the Legionaries.

When in his schooling days - 1956 till 1959, he studied in St. Francis Institution, was a boarder in the school, and was himself a Legionary.

During his time when he was a Legionary back in the late 1950's, the schools have many different Junior Praesidiums - each headed by the Brothers in the school at the time.

He was also the Spiritual Advisor to one of these Praesidiums when he was serving his term as a teacher in the school from 1970 till 1973, and again when he came back to be Brother Principal from 1989 till 2001.

At the demise of Brother Robert, who looked over one of the Legion Praesidium, Brother Ambrose took over the Praesidiums and merge all the Legion Praesidiums into one Junior Praesidium. Ever since then, there have been only one Legion Praesidium till this current day.

Under his time as well, Legion of Mary reached her golden age and was named as 'Best Society in the School' for 2005.

Today, we celebrate his journey and thank God for the positive impact he has made on us Legionaries.

SOLEMNITY OF THE SACRED HEART
First Friday Mass in the Month of June

Join us for our Monthly First Friday Mass as we celebrate the ultimate sacrifice of love - the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The Holy Mass would be of a Solemnity - hence there would be the Gloria and the Credo. Rosary Recitation and Confessions will be done 30 mins before the Holy Mass begins at 7.30am.

FEAST OF THE PRESENTATION OF THE LORD
First Friday Mass in the month of February

Do take note that we will be having our Monthly First Friday Mass for February on the 2nd February 2024. As it is coincidentally the Feast of The Presentation of The Lord, there will be blessing of candles before the Mass Propers begins.

If you would like to have your candles blessed, please place them on the tables in front of the Sanctuary before the Holy Mass. You may wish to indicate your names on the candles for easy identification and collection after Mass.

Today, all around the globe, LaSallians celebrate Founder's Day.

On this day, in 1950, Pope Pius XII proclaimed him has patron saint of all teachers.
How blessed is it then, that Teacher's Day in Malaysia is celebrated nationwide on May 16, which is a day after Founder's Day.

As we celebrate our teachers - past and present, let us ask St John Baptist De La Salle to always intercede for our teachers to stay true to the LaSallian teaching vision - Teaching Minds, Touching Hearts, Changing Lives

Come and join us for our First Friday Mass in the month of October. October is traditionally dedicated to the Most Holy Rosary and what better way to celebrate the month than to have a Feastday in honour of the Queen of the Holy Rosary.

For the first time ever, come and witness also the oath taking ceremony by the new Legion of Mary Board of Committees which will be done in front of the High Altar during the meeting as well.

Come and join in the celebration as we witness another milestone in the growth of the Legion of Mary in SFI ✨

Late as it is, but a celebration is still a celebration! - Day 2

Totally slipped out on the Day 2 post so here we go 😅

Legion of Mary celebrated their 100th Anniversary of their founding by Frank Duff in 2021. Being stuck with the strict COVID-19 rules and laws in place, we did not have any society activities or any celebrations in the past year

This year, we took that opportunity and celebrate that key milestone of the 100th Anniversary of the Founding and 65 years of the Legionaries' presence in SFI.

And with that comes another milestone - the boys have decided to rebranch out and begin to establish Legion of Mary in the other Mission Schools. Currently, St Francis Institution is the only Mission School within town that has the Legion of Mary Junior Praesidium. The other schools may have dissolve it or have disbanded it sometime in the yesteryears.

Let us pray that this suggestions would become a fruition on our end and the boys will do this work well and make Legion of Mary great again

PS: The boys ate Portuguese traditional food on Day 2 - At lunch we had Curry Debal and at Dinner we had Kacang Ambila Luncheon-meat and Chicken Soy. Luncheon-meat soup when ah? 😂

And a special shout-out to Aunty Sara for making the cake as the usual for us! It was a mother's love at its finest. The boys enjoyed the butter almond sugee cake ♥️

Passing the Baton - Day 3

The day has finally come when the current committees has to pass on the baton to the new committees.

Unlike past AGM where the committees announce their preferred choice of candidates for each respective office, the Senior Student Advisor this time around announces their choice and open the floor to the rest of the Legionaries to either agree or disagree with the candidates and to also choose the candidates should they disagree with the previous choice.

For the very first time, the new committees members kneel before the Statue of Our Lady in front of the High Altar, and while placing their hands on the Vexillum, and make their solemn oath to do their duty with diligence, responsibility and honesty.

History is also made as the Head of Music Ministry is now being lead by Jared, who is part of the Military Band.

Let us pray that our new Legion Board of Office Bearers would do their duty well in the favour of God ond Our Lady 🙏🏾

Recollection + Compline - Day 1

This retreat has many "firsts". We did our first Vespers and first Compline. We even had pizza for supper and movie night as well on the first day.

During the recollection, the boys were reminded on traditional devotion to constantly recourse to Mary when feeling down, in doubt, in sickness and etc, like a child running to their mother for everything.

Immediately after the Recollection, the boys placed candles near the foot of Our Lady and prayed as a group, seeking for her protection and motherly care through the night.
