In conjunction with Sarawak Day, representatives from the Bahá’í, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Sikh and Taoist faiths gathered for a Thanksgiving Ceremony organized by UNIFOR on 20 July 2026. The Thanksgiving Ceremony was graced by the presence of Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Yang Berhormat Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian and joined by esteemed leaders, officials and friends from many faiths.
The Bahá’í community is honoured to be a part of the ceremony together with the various other faiths in Sarawak. Each faith was invited to recite prayers, and Ms. Teng Wan Ying recited prayers during the ceremony on behalf of the Bahá’í Community of Sarawak, wishing for the continued well-being and unity of Sarawak. Mr. Suai Anak Kirak was also present, representing the Bahá’í Community of Sarawak at the event.
We are delighted to hear the state emphasizing the importance of religious institutions, stating it serves as centres of education, welfare, humanitarian service and moral guidance.
We were also grateful to be given the space to showcase a Ngajat performance from the young generation of Bahá’ís in Sarawak, highlighting the call for the preservation and flourishing of cultures, reflecting not only a commitment to preserving tradition, but also the hope that the wisdom, values, and heritage of their ancestors will continue to inspire generations to come. In the words of the Bahá’í teachings, unity is not achieved through uniformity, but through the harmonious celebration of our diversity.

As always, we hope to continue to be able to work on strengthening social harmony in Sarawak, build a better Sarawak together with the various faiths in Sarawak and contribute to the unity of our beloved state.
