How, where and when did Wesak Day first adopted as a public holiday?

To know the answers, visit Subang Jaya Buddhist Association SJBA on this year's Wesak Day. An exhibition about how Wesak Day was adopted as a public holiday will be held at SJBA this Wesak Day.

The same exhibition is also being held at Terengganu Buddhist Association 登嘉楼佛教会.

1st to 6th of May 2026.

The Selangor Buddhist Development Council 雪蘭莪州佛教发展理事会 organized this Dhamma tour with the cooperation and support of Buddhist centres in Kuala Terengganu, Kota Bharu and Gua Musang. This Dhamma tour was organized in conjunction with the National Level Raise the Buddhist Flag Campaign 2026 Launching Ceremony held in Kuala Terengganu.
The five lectures were very well received by the local Buddhist community. Our appreciation to Bhante Dr. Dhammapala and all Buddhist centres involved. Terengganu Buddhist Association 登嘉楼佛教会, Mettarama Meditation Centre Kota Bharu, Persatuan Buddhis Kulapati Kelantan, Kelantan Buddhist Association and Gua Musang Buddhist Association.

The Selangor Buddhist Development Council 雪蘭莪州佛教发展理事会 organized an official visit to Wat Pracacinaram in Wakaf Bharu, Kelantan on 2 May 2026. The delegation include Bhante Dr. Dhammapala, Khenpo Palden Rinpoche, SBDC president Bro. Loka S K Ng and members of Terengganu Buddhist Association 登嘉楼佛教会 Vajrayana Buddhist Council of Malaysia - VBCM - 马来西亚金刚乘佛教总会 Subang Jaya Buddhist Association SJBA Malaysia Buddhist Festival - MBF .
The delegation was given a warm welcome and briefing by Bro. Ong Lu Tiok, president of Persatuan Buddhis Wakaf Bharu and their members. The temple also hosted lunch for the visitors, which include khaojam, the popular local dish with Siamese influence.
Bro. Loka Ng, during his remarks, emphasized the importance of enhancing the relationship and networking between the Buddhist community in the Klang Valley and those in the east coast for the promotion of the Buddha-Sasana.

The National Level Raise the Buddhist Flag Campaign 2026 was successfully launched on 1st May 2026 at the Terengganu Buddhist Association 登嘉楼佛教会 with the participation of about 200 attendees representing more than 20 Buddhist organizations from numerous states.
We are grateful to Ven. B. Sri Saranankara Nayaka Maha Thera, Chief Adhikarana Nayaka of Malaysia for his compassion, support and his presence to launch the event. Present during the launch including Bhante Dr. Dhammapala, Bhante Mettiko, Khampo Palden Rinpoche, Terengganu Buddhist Association president Sis. Tan Siew Hong, Selangor Buddhist Development Council 雪蘭莪州佛教发展理事会 president Bro. Loka Ng and VBCM president Bro. Chew Eng Ghee and many other Buddhist leaders.
