St Mary’s Cathedral - English Liturgical Service - 31 May 2026 - 9.00 am

Welcome to our English Liturgical Service. This is a livestream of the service from St Mary’s Cathedral on Sunday, 31 May 2026 at 9.00 am.

Join us this Sunday as we study the biblical doctrine of the Trinity—one God in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Together, we'll examine what Scripture teaches about God's triune nature, why this doctrine is central to the Christian faith, and how it shapes our worship and understanding of God.

Do not mistake suffering for defeat, for God often advances his kingdom through what appears to be loss.

In Acts 7:54-8:4, Stephen, full of grace, power, and the Holy Spirit, stood as a faithful witness to Christ and boldly declared the truth before the Sanhedrin. Rather than responding with repentance, they were enraged, hardened their hearts, and resisted the Holy Spirit. Yet God opened heaven for Stephen to see the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God. As stones struck him, he entrusted his spirit to Jesus and prayed for his persecutors. Though Stephen fell asleep and persecution scattered believers, those who were scattered went about preaching the word, for the risen Christ continues building his church.

Brothers and sisters, let us treasure the Gospel more than comfort, fear God more than man, and remain faithful to Christ when obedience becomes costly.

Religion that is merely outward does not change the heart.

In Acts 6:8-7:53, Stephen, full of grace, power, wisdom, and the Holy Spirit, boldly proclaimed the gospel despite false accusations and persecution. Recounting Israel’s history, he showed that God’s people repeatedly rejected the ones God sent, and now had betrayed and murdered the Righteous One, Jesus Christ. Their temple religion had become idolatry, for they honoured outward forms while resisting the Holy Spirit.

Brothers and sisters, let us guard ourselves from religion that is merely outward. And let us stand boldly for Christ despite rejection, suffering, and persecution.
