Sri Kandaswamy Temple, Brickfields Sri Kandaswamy Kovil at Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur is a Saivite-style temple founded in 1902. The temple has been gracing Malaysia for over 100 years.

Sri Kandaswamy Temple is a Saivite-style temple managed by the Malaysian Ceylon Saivites Association / Persatuan Ceylon Saivites Malaysia. The Residing Deity is our Lord Sri Shakthi Vel Perumaan. Together with Sri Shakthi Vel Perumaan, Lord Shamuga Perumaan has been worshipped in Sri Kandaswamy Kovil for over 90 years. Other deities installed at Sri Kandaswamy Kovil are Idampuri Vinayahar, Sri Raa

jaarajeswari, Navakkirahams (9 planets), Sri Saneeswarar and Sri Vairavar, Sri Sandeswarar, the recently installed Sri Utchava Vel Perumaan and the Samaya Kuravar (the 4 chief Saivite saints). Among the notable features in Sri Kandaswamy Kovil are the huge golden Kodimaram, the Vasantha Mandapam and Yagasalai Peedam. The temple has a sacred pond called Skandapuspakarani. A sacred Kadambam tree and a sacred garden with the pond, Saravanapoikai, also adds to the charm of the temple compound. Two pairs of peacocks enhance the beauty and popularity of the garden. Sri Kandaswamy Kovil is hailed as one of the first temples in Malaysia to celebrate the Soora Samhara festival and one of two temples in Malaysia to celebrate the Kathirgama Kodiyetram festival.

ANNUAL SHANMUGA KAVASAM RECITAL – Sunday, 15th of March 2026

Dear Devotees,

The students and well-wishers of the late Smt. Vijayalakshmi Kulaveerasingam are organising a recital of the Shanmuga Kavasam at the Sri Kandaswamy Temple on Sunday, 15th of March 2026, from 8.00 a.m. till 7.30 p.m., in continuation of the tradition initiated by her in 1994.

The Shanmuga Kavasam is a powerful hymn of 30 verses composed by Paamban Swamigal in 1891 in praise of Lord Murugan, to seek an effective shield on several parts of our bodies and minds from wild beasts, poisonous reptiles and insects, diseases of all kinds, distress or trials. The Shanmuga Kavasam will be sung a total of 36 times over 6 sessions.

Devotees are welcome to participate in this event and obtain the protection of Sri Valli Thaevasena Samaetha Sri Shanmuga Subramaniya Perumaan.

LUNAR ECLIPSE - Tuesday, 3rd March 2026

Dear Devotees,

Please note that a Lunar Eclipse will occur on Tuesday, 3rd March 2026. Therefore, the Evening Poojaa will be held at 5.30 p.m. and the Artthajaama Pooja will be held at 6.45 p.m followed by the closing of the Temple doors. The Temple will reopen on Wednesday, 4th March 2026 at 6.00 a.m. for the Kirahana Thosha Praayachita Abishegam.
