| | Master's "Secret Tips" for Exam Students
🌸 Words of Dharma by Master Jingben
✏️ What to Do When Nerves Strike During an Exam
The hardest moment in the exam hall
is sometimes not the questions themselves,
but the sudden wave of panic:
"I don't think I've studied this."
Or, "Oh no, I've forgotten."
In that moment, your hands start to sweat, your mind goes blank,
and the words before your eyes suddenly become strangers, one by one.
When we care too much, we lose our calm.
The harder you try to hold on, the more it slips away;
the harder you try to perform, the less comes through.
If you find yourself in that moment —
put down your pen,
and softly recite this single Name: Namo Amitabha Buddha.
As you recite,
with the Buddha's light blessing you,
the restless heart
slowly settles down.
What you thought you had forgotten
will, bit by bit, float back to the surface.
The threads of your reasoning
will, one by one,
reconnect.
Then, simply do your best,
and complete each question, one at a time.
This is what is meant by —
"An ordinary heart is the Way."

🌙 What to Do When Panic Sets In the Night Before
The night before an exam
can be the hardest to bear.
The books — you can't take anything in anymore.
Sleep — it won't come.
Your mind races, and you can't make it stop.
If you find yourself in such a night,
try this: close the book.
Shut the computer, close your eyes.
Let "Namo Amitabha Buddha"
flow from your lips, one phrase at a time,
and let your ears receive each sound.
Just like this — ten times, a hundred times.
Just like this — one minute, ten minutes.
Let your eyes
rest within the Name;
let your heart
find stillness within the Name.
Namo Amitabha Buddha.
Namo Amitabha Buddha.
Namo Amitabha Buddha.
Though it is only a brief moment of recitation,
you will find:
the scattered thoughts slowly settle.
The nervousness, the fear,
the "what ifs" and "buts" —
all of them, slowly, loosen their grip.
Facing an exam
was never meant to be perfect;
just do your best — that is enough.
Even the brightest students sometimes stumble;
even the most ordinary sometimes have a flash of brilliance.
So,
if you truly feel you have prepared well,
let yourself rest.
The next day, walk into the exam hall
with a calm heart
and this single Name: Namo Amitabha Buddha.
Amitabha Buddha will walk in with you;
Amitabha Buddha will watch over you through it all.

⏳ What to Do When Anxiety Builds While Waiting for Results
The day the exam ends,
the pen is put down —
but the heart, perhaps, has not truly let go.
Waiting for results, waiting for the announcement —
these days can sometimes be harder than the exam itself.
If you find yourself in this situation,
please — recite the Name.
Going over the questions again and again,
guessing your score over and over —
none of it truly helps.
Instead, give yourself a simple practice:
Every morning, recite Namo Amitabha Buddha ten times.
Every night before bed, recite ten times more.
If you can, before each meal,
recite ten times again.
When the heart is restless — recite.
When worry creeps in — recite.
Recite through the days, and the days will pass.
Recite through the worry, and the heart will steady.
As the saying goes:
"Just do good, and do not worry about the road ahead."
"As the cause, so the fruit."
🪷 Lastly, Master Would Like to Say
This journey called life
was never meant to be written on a single report card.
The worth of our entire life
cannot be measured by grades alone.
An exam may be a starting point,
but it is never the finish line —
and it is only one starting point among many.
As the saying goes, all roads lead to Rome.
Just find the path that suits you,
or one that carries meaning — and that is enough.
But no matter which road you walk,
Amitabha Buddha is always there.
Amitabha Buddha knows you,
walks beside you, watches over you.
The questions of student life are written on paper;
the questions that follow are written in life itself.
So,
we may walk different paths,
but we must never be without the refuge of Namo Amitabha Buddha.
Amitabha Buddha is always there.
Amitabha Buddha will walk with us
through every single question life puts before us.
Lastly, with all sincerity, we wish every student —
Trust in the Buddha, recite the Name, and face your exams with calm;
may your wisdom and blessings grow, and your future shine bright.
May every diligent student,
under Amitabha Buddha's watchful care,
pass through this small hurdle with ease,
and walk peacefully through every step of the journey ahead.

Note: Every year, there comes a time like this — when countless students walk into exam halls, facing the big and small tests of life. A fellow practitioner, moved by this thought, humbly requested Master Jingben to offer a word of blessing for students everywhere. Master compassionately agreed, and penned these words of Dharma, along with a few "tips" for facing exams. May every child who walks into the exam hall do so with a peaceful and at-ease heart.
