Nicodemus had it all figured out, and Jesus told him none of it could give him new eyes. Flesh gives birth to flesh. Only the Spirit gives birth to spirit.

A new way of seeing isn't something you achieve. It's something He gives.

Nicodemus did. He was a teacher, a leader, someone who had built his whole life around faith. And Jesus looked at him and said: you need to start over. Not from scratch. From above.
