For a long time, I knew about God, but didn’t know Him personally despite growing up in church. It wasn’t until my late teens did I realise I didn’t have much desire to seek God on my own terms. That changed when I came back to church and was met with love and encouragement from my brothers and sisters in Christ. I started reading the Bible again and began to see God and the world in a new light. I remember thinking it was enough being a good person, but something always felt missing—I was constantly striving without peace. Studying the Bible and seeing how God worked in the lives around me, made me realise He is not distant or demanding, but kind, patient, and near even when I don’t realise it. I still have hard days and struggles, but I now find comfort in the unchanging love of God. My baptism is a declaration that I no longer want to figure out life on my own, but to trust in the Lord who has been with me through every season.
