The Community of St Alcuin

The Community of St Alcuin The Community of St Alcuin is a lay community based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We welcome visitors and church members to come and join our worships.

The Community of St Alcuin is an Anglican community form within the Diocese of West Malaysia in the year of 2022. There is a monthly gathering in the form of worship, study and learning for those who are interested into church liturgy in music or serving as an acolyte. The community uses the Provincial prayer book of the South East Asia Anglican church for our worship, employing the usage of vestments, incense and bells in the traditions of the English Patrimony.

Why does the reader not begin with “Good morning” before the Lesson?

Because the Lesson is not a personal address to the congregation, but the proclamation of Holy Scripture within the assembly of the Church. Thus the reader announces, “A Reading from…”, directing our attention not to the minister, but to the Word of God.

The focus is upon the Scriptures proclaimed, not the one who proclaims them.
