On 29/10 We had a glorious Commissioning Service to welcome Bro. William Lee as the new head of FGA Cheras. Pr Daniel Ho imparted words of wisdom from 2 Timothy 2:1-7 – Passing the Baton and Finishing Well Together.

God has given us:
•The means in His sufficient grace
•The method in leadership multiplication
•The measure to observe in finishing well
- Endurance (v3)
- Entanglement to guard (v4)
- Engagement to embrace (v5)
- Enriched to inherit (6)

Our precious Dr. Rosy Leong spoke on the power of fasting. Her basis was Matthew 5: 6 - Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Those who hunger are those who achieve mighty things in God’s plan. Dr. Rosy dug deep into her personal experience to demonstrate how her dogged determination to act on this biblical principle bore much fruit. From her family accepting the Lord, to her passing her Bible College programme to the point of being the valedictorian for her batch of graduates. She said she was moved to this practise by simply studying the Word of God.

Pr. Philip Soh brought God’s message to us with his exceptionally talented trio of worshippers. We were truly blessed and ministered to through the multiple songs delivered to us. They were based on Scripture and indeed, prophetic. He led the congregation in making bold declarations, based on God’s Holy Word. Ranging from the Old Testament (Isaiah 60:22, Isaiah 12:2, Isaiah 40:7 & 8, Psalm 119:49, Psalm 101:8) to the New Testament (Matthew 11:28, Matthew 5:3-10, James 3:6, Luke 10:18), his determined assertions fanned into flame our desire to take the land for Jesus, for His kingdom will never end.

Though we were several weeks removed from Resurrection Sunday, Pr. Chu Soon refocused on the Passion Week to learn from the prayer life modelled by Jesus in that duration. He exhorted us to “praypare” for crises in our lives, which are unavoidable. Jesus lived a lifestyle of prayer. Many times, we read that He spent whole nights praying. He had an intimate relationship with God, Our Father. He had an abandoned dependence on our Father God. Pr. Chu Soon reminded us that our God, is a Father Who is involved, and committed. We must be careful that we nurture a prayer life that deepens our intimacy with God, as it is possible to “say prayers” without knowing Him intimately. Jesus was in humble surrender to God. When He prayed, He was prepared to accept whatever God’s will was, instead of approaching it with a sense of entitlement. Lastly, Jesus prayed with earnestness and fervency. At the Garden of Gethsemane, after He was strengthened by the angle, Jesus became steeled for the fight ahead. In contrast, the disciples had slept through the night at the, and eventually, they ALL abandoned Jesus. They were not “praypared” for the crisis.

Sis. Mei Leng’s sermon was entitled, “Inherited to live and walk”. Israel today retains only 2% of the land mass God had promised them. Even when they first entered the Promised Land, instead of possessing all territories promised to them, they chose to co-exist with the inhabitants of the land. Eventually King David conquered more of the Promised Land than ever before that. God in His long-suffering desired to give His people the whole Promised Land and walked with the nation right through the Old Testament. Likewise, when each of us came to the faith, God did not immediately transport us to heaven – our eternal destination. Instead, He leaves us here. The purpose is for us practise active yielding to transformation. We were never meant to blend in with the culture around us. For this radical change, we need God’s Word as our plumb line, our point of reference.

Today Pastor Soon Lee brought us the key to be saved and be transformed in the Holy Spirit. He spoke to us about the difference between transformation and "nice deeds" being that transformations bring glory to God. Whereby the Glory of God can be seen through us in our daily lives. How can transformation take place? Firstly, the Holy Spirit restores us to what God created us to be. Secondly, God renews us. When we invite Him into our lives, significant changes take place in our lives. We begin to be different from the world around us. Thirdly, the Holy Spirit renames us, giving us new identities to put purpose into our lives. Lastly, the Holy Spirit resurrects us, breathing life into parts of us that are dead. In conclusion, when we begin to allow the Holy Spirit to transform us, THEN, the glory of the latter house would be greater than the glory of the former house.

On Resurrection Sunday, Pr. Robert reminded us that Jesus’ ministry was a ministry of LIFE! In the Gospel of John, the 7 times Jesus declared “I Am”, the common denominator was LIFE. After Jesus died on Good Friday, He descended into hell and snatched the keys of death and Hades from the enemy of our soul, Satan. Based on Romans 8:11, since the Spirit of resurrection lives in us, we should live in the blessing of preventive medicine by confessing God’s promises. Before Jesus ascended to heaven, He commissioned us all to go and proclaim the message of LIFE to all the world.

As we move into the Passion Week towards Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday, Pr. Lucrece felt led by God to pose the following question to the congregation: Who do you say that I am? (Referring to Jesus). When Jesus entered Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, the manner in which his entry was perceived was very diverse. Too many in the crowd were blinded by the hardness of their hearts and could not see the King of Glory. 2000 years ago the Jews missed it. What about each of us? Do we see Him?
