There are some things you can grow up around.

Understand theoretically.

Accept biblically.

Even practice regularly.

Yet, still find yourself feeling unsettled.

Am I giving enough? Am I giving too much? Should keep it for myself in this season?

If you’ve been a Christian for some time and find it hard to fully surrender to God in the practice of generosity,

we hope this story encourages you to keep holding the tension, asking the deeper questions, and trusting that God is still forming something in you. 💛

Hi, we’re The Journey.

We started in Kuala Lumpur on the 1st July 2022 for a group we called the dechurched and unchurched people. Since then, we’ve grown in numbers, locations and also a unique culture.

We’re proud to be a church that focus on helping people read the Bible in a nuanced and curious manner.

We hope it is a place where people feel safe to be seen and heard through an honest relationship with God and community.

If you have been looking for a space like this, learn more about our Bible Reading groups in our link in bio.

What a day! Thank you so much everyone for the way you show up and sow into The Journey SG!

A huge shout-out to everyone who invited a friend, to Jasmine for organising the day so beautifully, to our panelists for sharing so honestly, to the worship team (including our dear friend Harmony all the way from Melbourne), to Wei Leong for bringing the message, Zoe for the photos, to those who travelled from KL, and to all the friends of The Journey who have been praying for us and cheering us on from afar.

We really hope you know how deeply grateful we are for each of you. The Church has never been about one person or one denomination and this day we saw over 22 churches/organisations gathered together saying “yes” to Jesus, loving one another well, and believing for God’s work in the city of Singapore.

As we celebrated three years together, we feel incredibly proud of what we’re building together, and even more expectant for what’s still to come.

To God be the glory. Onwards.

❤️🙏🙏

Over the June break, Viola and I had the privilege of spending some extended quality time with friends that have been such a great source of encouragement and formation for our Christian walk over this past decade.

As you step into the second half of 2026, I hope you’ll also find time to invest in the relationships that matter most.

While we took a short break from our regular Bible Reading Groups, I have honestly been so proud of the way you have come together.

What started as a throwaway idea to create a collaborative WhatsApp Community for Socials turned out to be one of the best ideas we landed on!

Today, there are over 80 people in the community and more than 20 interest groups. From Concerts & Live Events, Kingdom Business, Board Games, and Pickleball to Hikes & Waterfalls. It’s been so encouraging watching you take initiative, organise gatherings, and build friendships beyond our regular church rhythms.

🎉 WHAT YOU DID LAST MONTH:

1. Bible Clubhouse 📖 (17 June)
2. Pickleball 🥒🎾 (20 June)
3. Sabbath by the River 🌿 (21 June)
4. Mission Q Escape Room 🧩 (24 June)
5. Thasha’s Play: “Unholy” 🎭 (27–28 June)

Looking ahead…

🇸🇬 On 11 July, The Journey Singapore celebrates three years! I’d love your prayers as we celebrate what God has done, and if you’re in Singapore, we’d love to have you with us. RSVPs are open for a few more days via the link in our bio.

Last but not least, I’m so ready for Bible Reading Groups at all three locations to relaunch in July (check the calendar for all the dates). If you have been struggling to read Scripture on your own, this might just be the right space for you try something different.

There is also going to be a ton of international visitors passing through this month, so if you’ve been thinking about coming along, this is a great month to jump in.

Let’s dare to be courageous in our faith as we journey through this next stretch together.

With love and peace,
Mike

🇸🇬 Three years.

Honestly, it doesn’t feel that long ago that Singapore was simply... an idea.

We just knew there were people in Singapore who wanted to read the Bible in community. 😊

So, in faith, we started.

A 45-minute flight. And three years later...a whole community. Praise God!

Over the past three years, we’ve learned that people in Singapore are also looking for an unhurried space where faith can grow.

We’ve discovered that meaningful communities can emerge when people make room for honest questions, open conversations, and a shared curiosity about God and the Bible.

And time and time again, we’ve seen God meet people there.

Some friendships have lasted all three years.
Some people joined only recently.
Still, some have moved away and are now scattered across different cities and countries.

Yet somehow, we’re all part of the same story.

So on 11 July, we’d love to pause and celebrate. To share some of the stories, lessons, and moments that have shaped this little community over the past three years.

Whether you are in SG or in KL, we would love to see you there. RSVP via link in bio. 🔗

Thank you for being part of the journey. ❤️
