The history of the temple can be dated back as long as before the year of 1914,in which there was a small shrine dedicated to Lord Subramania in the form of a "Vel" .By 1914 , the Ceylonese Hindu Tamils who were residing in large numbers along Teluk Pulai Road , decided to take over the shrine for their ISTHA DEIVAM , LORD MURUGAN , where they intend to

conduct poojas , abisegams and thiruvillas according to customs and sastric principles based on the Kumara Ta**ra. Thus in 1914 , foundation was laid to transform a simple shrine into a full – fledged temple with priest , pandarams , musicians and workers . The Temple was named as
SUBRAMANIYA SWAMY TEMPLE . A Committee of Management headed by a President was elected democratically by members to manage and coordinate all matters related to the administration of our Temple . The first MAHA KUMBABISHEGAM was held in 1922 , followed by in 1934 , 1959 , 1973 and the last was in 1986 . Records show that in 1924 statues of Lord Muruga and Valli Theivanai were consecrated as the main deities of the temple . Sometime in the thirties the statues were replaced by a VEL. In addition , the Arumugam Swamy deity was donated by Mr . This unique statue was made in Sri Lanka during the 1950's . Since then ,the Arumugasamy “ Isthapana “ Thiruvilla and Kanda Shasthi are celebrated in a grand scale. Another identity of our Temple is the Palmyra tree ( Panammaram ) , the seedlings which were brought from Ceylon by Mr . Somasundram of Port Swettenham Estate in 1938. The NAVALAR MANDAPAM was built in 1957 under the Presidentship of Mr . Ponnudurai and then enlarged and renovated in 1983 / 1984 under Mr . On the 30th of June 2011 , our Temple was deregistered due to violation of the Temple By – Laws and subsequently reregistered under a new name , KLANG SUBRAMANIA SWAMY TEMPLE (2011 ) on the 23rd of September 2011 . A BALAALAYAM Kumbabishegam was held on the 20th of June 2010 to facilitate the rebuilding of the new temple . The old temple and the office block were demolished on the 5th of April 2011 .
