📢 KOLABORASI ORAL AND RELIGION (KOA) 2026 SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDED 📢

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the Oral and Religion Collaboration (KOA) Programme held on 20 June 2026 at Arulmigu Sri Jalaganda Vinayagar Temple, Keningau. The event was carried out smoothly and successfully through the strong collaboration between the temple committee, Keningau Dental Clinic, Keningau Health Office, and the Sabah Pharmacy Enforcement Branch. The encouraging participation and support from the local community reflected the growing awareness and importance of health care among the public.

Through this programme, visitors not only benefited from various health services such as free dental examinations, oral cancer screening, health screening, influenza vaccination, vector-borne disease awareness activities, and pharmacy exhibitions, but also gained valuable knowledge and practical information that can be applied in their daily lives. The activities provided an excellent platform for community members to learn more about preventive healthcare, healthy lifestyle practices, proper medication usage, and the importance of maintaining both physical and oral health for overall well-being.

This programme also strengthened the relationship between healthcare agencies, community leaders, and the public while promoting the spirit of unity and collective responsibility towards health. It was inspiring to see people from different backgrounds come together with a shared goal of building a healthier and more informed community.

Once again, thank you to all healthcare personnel, volunteers, organisers, and participants for their dedication, commitment, and support in making this event a great success. We hope that more initiatives like this will continue to be organised in the future to empower communities with knowledge and encourage healthier lifestyles for generations to come.

KENINGAU: Arulmigu Sri Jalaganda Vinayagar Temple, the first Hindu temple in the interior of Sabah, was officially inaugurated recently.
The inauguration ceremony was held in a highly symbolic manner, in accordance with Hindu customs and beliefs.
The establishment of the temple was the result of an initiative by the Vinayagar Hindu Devotees Association of Keningau, which was formed in 2019 and driven by three siblings — Suries Ramalingam, Thanabalan Ramalingam and Vasu Ramalingam.
With its official opening, the temple now serves as a place of worship for the Hindu community.
In addition, it is expected to become a new attraction and tourism destination in the interior region, particularly in the Keningau district.
Suresh said that in conjunction with the inauguration, the association also distributed food baskets to 100 families in need.
He added that the recipients comprised residents of Kampung Tuarid Taud, Dangulad and surrounding areas.
The contributions were presented by local young leader Prem Kitingan, witnessed by the association’s leadership.
“An estimated 1,200 people attended the temple inauguration, which was officiated through the Maha Kumbabishegam ceremony,” he said, adding that the initial construction work began in 2019 but was temporarily halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to him, the temple is able to accommodate up to 400 devotees at any one time.
Currently, it is estimated that there are between 200 and 400 members of the Hindu community living in the interior areas of Sabah.
