The fruits of the Spirit are perfections that the Holy Spirit forms in us as the first fruits of eternal glory. The tradition of the Church lists twelve of them: “charity, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, generosity, gentleness, faithfulness, modesty, self-control, chastity.”

Sport is more than competition. At its best, it is a universal language that brings people together across cultures, generations, and nations.

In his prayer intention for June, Pope Leo XIV invites us to pray that we may rediscover the true meaning of sport as a school of fraternity, respect, solidarity, and personal growth. At a time when competition can sometimes become empty rivalry and exclusion leaves many on the sidelines, sport has the power to break down barriers, create encounters, and build bridges between people.

"𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗮 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗹 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿, 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁, 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵."

May we see in every game and competition an opportunity to foster unity rather than division, cooperation rather than conflict, and growth rather than mere victory. Even the playing field can become a place of grace, where values that strengthen our human family are learned and shared.

🙏 Let us pray that sport may continue to be an instrument of peace, encounter, and dialogue among cultures and nations, promoting respect, solidarity, and the integral growth of every person.

Today, the Church honours Saint Charles Lwanga and the Uganda Martyrs — young men who chose to remain faithful to Christ despite persecution and death in 1886.

Led by Charles Lwanga, they courageously defended their faith, protected one another, and refused to renounce Christianity before King Mwanga II. Their witness reminds us that true faith is not only proclaimed with words, but lived with courage, integrity, and sacrifice.

More than a century later, their legacy continues to inspire millions across Africa and around the world. 🙏🔥

St Charles Lwanga and Companions, pray for us. ✝️

𝐒𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐮𝐬!

Saints Marcellinus (a priest) and Peter (an exorcist) were martyred during the persecution of Christians under Emperor Diocletian around 303 AD.

Though little is known about their lives, their witness was so significant that their names are still mentioned today in the Roman Canon (Eucharistic Prayer I), placing them among the early martyrs honoured at every Mass. Their tomb became a place of pilgrimage, and Emperor Constantine later built a basilica in their honour.

Their enduring presence in the Church’s liturgy reminds us that faithfulness to Christ is worth every sacrifice.

The busier life gets, the more we need to stay close to God.

When we drift from Him, the noise of the world grows louder. Anxiety creeps in. We push harder, yet feel emptier. Why? Because money can buy a house, but not peace. Success may bring recognition, but not true fulfillment. Without God, even our best efforts can feel hollow.

𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐒𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐮𝐬 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤: “𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐰 𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐆𝐨𝐝, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐰 𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮” (𝐉𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝟒:𝟖).

So today, pause. Breathe. Seek Him first. In His presence, we find clarity, strength, and the peace that surpasses all understanding.

Have a grace-filled Tuesday.

𝐒𝐭 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧, 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐲𝐫

St. Justin was born of heathen parents at. Neapolis in Samaria, about the year 103.

He was well educated, and gave himself to the study of philosophy, but always with one object, that he might learn the knowledge of God. He sought this knowledge among the contending schools of philosophy, but always in vain, till at last God himself appeased the thirst which He had created.

One day, while Justin was walking by the seashore, meditating on the thought of God, an old man who was a Christian who convinced him that he could not come to know and understand God through human knowledge but he needed to be instructed by the Prophets who are inspired by the Holy Spirit and have come to know God and subsequently could make Him known.

The Scriptures and the constancy of the Christian martyrs led Justin from the darkness of human reason to the light of faith. In his zeal for the Faith he travelled to Greece, Egypt, and Italy, gaining many to Christ.

At Rome he sealed his testimony with his blood, surrounded by his disciples. "Do you think," the prefect said to Justin, "that by dying you will enter heaven, and be rewarded by God?" "I do not think," was the Saint's answer; "I know."

The Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the Friday following the second Sunday after Pentecost.

In addition to the liturgical celebration, many devotional exercises are connected with the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The Holy Heart of Jesus Prayer is one of the most popular prayers to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. You can find it on prayer cards, websites, and written in the hearts of men, women, and children everywhere:

As we come to the 31st of May, this gentle, contemplative image of Mary and the Child Jesus — a quiet reminder of the tender bond between mother and child, and of Mary’s unique place in the mystery of God’s love.

May, traditionally dedicated to Our Lady, invites us into stillness and reflection — to see, through her, the grace of surrender, the strength of faith, and the beauty of divine motherhood. This painting captures more than a moment in time; it speaks of a timeless truth: that love, when rooted in God, becomes a vessel of hope for the world.

As we close this month dedicated to her, may we continue to entrust our lives, families, and communities to her maternal care. In joys and in trials, may we never cease to seek her intercession, knowing that she always leads us to her Son.

"And Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart."
