Pentecost Sunday | Acts 2:1–21

Today, we celebrated Pentecost Sunday — remembering the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the early church in Acts 2.

Rev Tan reminded us that the Holy Spirit is the “Divine Energizer” — the One who renews, empowers, restores, and draws us closer to Jesus Christ. Just as the disciples were transformed by the mighty rushing wind and tongues of fire, we too are invited to seek a deeper walk with God.

✨ Key reminders from today’s message:
• Revival and renewal are the work of God — they cannot be manufactured.
• The Holy Spirit establishes a new community marked by love, welcome, and fellowship.
• God keeps His promises, even when we must wait.
• There is always hope and restoration in Jesus Christ, just as Peter was restored after denying Him.
• In the busyness of life, we are called to quiet ourselves before the Lord and rediscover a fresh zeal for Him.

“And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” — Acts 2:21

May we continue to see the mighty works of God in our lives, our families, and our church community. 🙏

✨ “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayer.” — 1 Peter 3:12 ✨

In a world where following Jesus is not always easy, God reminds us today: don’t live as defeated Christians.

Through suffering, challenges, rejection, or fear — our hope remains in Christ. 🙏
Just as Peter encouraged the early believers, we too are called to stand firm, honour Christ in our hearts, and continue doing good with gentleness and respect.

Jesus, the righteous One, suffered for us so that we may be brought back to God. Because of the cross, our sins are forgiven, our lives are redeemed, and we are no longer condemned. ❤️

No matter what you are facing today:
✔️ God sees you
✔️ God hears your prayers
✔️ God has not abandoned you

Don’t let fear become your “Goliath.”
Walk in faith, hope, and victory in Christ. ✝️

🌸 Happy Mother’s Day 🌸

What does true beauty look like?

In today’s message from 1 Peter 3:1–7, we were reminded that God looks beyond appearances — He looks at the heart. A gentle spirit, love, humility, understanding, and a life close to Jesus are precious in God’s sight.

Whether you are a mother, father, husband, wife, young adult, or someone still searching for hope and purpose, God invites all of us to grow together in His grace.

✨ “Let your character speak louder than your words.”
✨ “Pursue godliness in conduct, not just conversation.”
✨ “Trust the Lord and do not give way to fear.”

At church, we are not perfect people — just people learning to walk closer to Jesus together.

If you are in JB and looking for a church family, we warmly welcome you to join us. Come experience:
🤝 A caring community
📖 God’s Word
🙏 Prayer & worship
❤️ A place to belong

You are always welcome here.

Glory in Suffering — 1 Peter 2:19–25 (3 May 2026)

What does it mean to follow Christ when life is unfair?

In today’s message, we reflected on First Epistle of Peter 2:19–25 and were reminded that suffering—especially when undeserved—is not meaningless in God’s kingdom.

We heard the real-life story of Raymond Koh, whose disappearance continues to grieve his family and community. His life challenges us to consider: how do we respond when faith leads to hardship?

The Apostle Saint Peter points us to the ultimate example—Jesus Christ:

He was without sin, yet suffered unjustly
He did not retaliate, even when wronged
He entrusted Himself to God, who judges justly

Because of Christ:
✨ We can die to sin
✨ We can live in righteousness
✨ We can trust God, even when life feels uncertain

Following Jesus does not mean a life free from pain. But it does mean we are never without purpose, never without hope, and never without a Shepherd.

“For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.” (1 Peter 2:25)

In this week Luke 24:13–35 passage, two disciples were walking to Emmaus—discouraged and full of questions. And yet, Jesus came alongside them… walked with them… spoke to them… but they didn’t even recognize Him.

Sometimes, we’re just like them.
Jesus is near—but we don’t see Him.
He is speaking—but we don’t fully understand.

💡 But here’s the good news:
When Jesus opens the Scriptures, hearts begin to change.

🔥 “Were not our hearts burning within us while He talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” (Luke 24:32)

God’s Word is not just information—it brings joy, clarity, and transformation.

Challenges for Us This Week:

📌 1. Stay in the Word
Take one Bible passage each week. Read it daily. Reflect on it. Pray over it.
Let God speak to you personally—right where you are.

📌 2. Keep Your Focus on Jesus
Our faith is not just about being “good people.”
It’s about knowing, loving, and walking with Jesus.

If you’re in JB and looking for a place to grow in faith and community, we’d love to journey with you.

Living Hope in Challenging Times (1 Peter 1:1–12)

Have you ever waited in a long queue and wondered, “Will it be worth it?”

Sis Day Day shared a powerful real-life story of people queuing for hours—even overnight—just to get petrol during a shortage. Despite the heat, uncertainty, and even disappointment, they stayed. Why? Because they had "hope"—hope that they would get what they needed to keep going.

In the same way, the apostle Peter the Apostle reminds us in 1 Peter 1:3 that through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we are given a "living hope"—not temporary, not uncertain, but eternal.

✨ This hope means:
• We are "born again" into a new life
• We have an "inheritance that will never perish"
• Our "trials refine our faith", making it stronger
• Our "salvation is secure", even if we don’t see the full picture yet

In JB, life can feel fast-paced and sometimes overwhelming—work stress, family responsibilities, financial pressures. But just like those who waited patiently, we are called to "hold on to hope", trusting that God is working behind the scenes.

💡 This week, reflect:
• Do I truly trust God in "every" area of my life?
• What am I holding back from Him?
• How can I live out this “living hope” daily?

Let’s continue to support one another as a church family—through prayer, encouragement, and love. Together, we can be a light in Johor Bahru 🌟

🙏 *May we live with active faith and unshakable hope in Christ.*

Easter Sunday Message – He Is Risen!

“I have seen the Lord!” — the powerful declaration of Mary Magdalene in John 20.

This Easter, Rev Tan Meng Poo shares from John 20:1–18, reminding us of the heart of our faith:

🌿 The Resurrection Brings Hope
In a world filled with pain, poverty, and uncertainty, the resurrection of Jesus reminds us—this is not the end. Because He lives, we have true and lasting hope.

🌿 The Resurrection Brings Comfort
When people ask, “Where did they go?”
As Christians, we can say with confidence: They are with Jesus.

🌿 The Resurrection Calls for Commitment
To “believe” is more than understanding—it is choosing to follow and commit our lives to Christ, just like a covenant relationship.

🌿 God Values Everyone
The first witness of the risen Christ was a woman. In a culture where women were often overlooked, this shows how God honors and lifts every person.

🙏 Because Jesus is risen, we can truly pray:
“Our Father in heaven…”

💬 This Easter, let us boldly proclaim:
Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again!

We warmly invite friends and families near our church Taman Gaya and the surrounding community to join us and discover this living hope ❤️

Palm Sunday Reflection 🌿 – Gospel of Matthew 21:1–11

As we begin Holy Week, we remember how Jesus Christ entered Jerusalem—not with power and prestige, but in humility, riding on a donkey. No grand convoy, no display of worldly strength—yet His mission was the greatest of all: obedience to the Father, even unto the cross.

The crowd cried, “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!”—a cry for salvation, hope, and deliverance.

✨ What does this mean for us today?
In the busyness of life—work, family, daily responsibilities—it's easy to limit our faith to just Sundays. But Holy Week invites us to pause, reflect, and draw near to Christ in a deeper way.

🙏 This week, let us:
Reflect on our walk with Jesus
Seek His grace and mercy
Practice humility and obedience
Make time for prayer and God’s Word

Just as a trained pilot responds instinctively in crisis, may our relationship with Christ grow so deep that trusting Him becomes our natural response in every situation.

💡 Don’t let this be just another week.
Let it be a meaningful journey—from Palm Sunday to Good Friday, and ultimately to the victory of Easter.

“Believe, trust, and follow Him.”

May we live not a routine life, but a life full of purpose and victory in Christ. 🙌
