灵仙岩在1967年由罗志民创立，当时这里一片荒凉，岩前峻峭斜璧，直伸参天，环顾四周一片宁静，有如灵圣仙人之地。后又发现岩前有天然泉眼，冒出清泉，长流不尽，因此取名灵仙岩。
