This week, our English service returned to our Isaiah 1-12 sermon series, while our Chinese congregation concluded its Deuteronomy 4–11 series. We will also be gathering for our monthly prayer meeting this Tuesday evening, as we come before God together in prayer, entrusting Him with the needs of our church, partner churches, our nation, and the world. In addition, the Church Camp committee continues preparations for camp in August. As we gather around God’s Word and share in the life of the church, we hope to grow as a community shaped by the gospel, welcoming all who join us across our congregations and gatherings.

God’s Love Song Lament (Isaiah 5)

We all love a good love song. They capture something we all long for: to love and be loved. But not all love stories have a happy ending. Some love stories end in heartbreak when relationships fall apart. In Isaiah 5, God sings a love song of his own. But what begins as a love song, quickly becomes a lament filled with disappointment and sorrow. What happens when God’s people receive every blessing, yet fail to produce the fruit he desires? 上帝的要求 (What God Requires) - 申命记 Deuteronomy 10:12 - 11:32

在这个以自我为中心，追求个人利益的时代，人们常表达的是“我有要求！”。但我们又是否意识到，创造天地、掌管万有的上帝向祂所拣选救赎的人又有什么要求？申命记10章12节至11章32节让我们看见，上帝并非要求人靠行为来换取救恩，而是要求蒙恩得救的人以敬畏、爱与顺服来回应祂的恩典。祂要求我们记念祂的救赎、信靠祂的供应，并顺服地走在祂所指示的蒙福道路上。这个主日，邀请你来到十架冠冕教会，让我们一起透过上帝的话，重新认识上帝充满恩典和圣洁威严的要求，也看见耶稣基督如何成全我们无法成全的一切，使我们能甘心乐意地活出蒙恩子民的生命。

In an age marked by self-centeredness and the pursuit of personal interests, people often say, “I have my demands!” But have we ever considered what the Creator of heaven and earth, the sovereign Lord who rules over all things, requires of those whom He has chosen and redeemed? Deuteronomy 10:12–11:32 reveals that God does not call people to earn salvation through their works. Rather, He calls those who have been saved by grace to respond to His mercy with reverent fear, wholehearted love, and willing obedience. He requires us to remember His redeeming acts, trust in His faithful provision, and walk obediently in the path of blessing that He has set before us. This Sunday, we warmly invite you to join us at Cross and Crown Church as we study God’s Word together. Come and rediscover God’s gracious yet holy requirements, and see how Jesus Christ has perfectly fulfilled what we could never accomplish on our own, enabling us to live joyfully and faithfully as His redeemed people.

Spiritual Legacy (2 Timothy 1:1-7)

In his final letter, the Apostle Paul writes to his dear disciple Timothy, reminding him that faith is both a gift from God and a heritage to be carried forward. He points to the “sincere faith” that first lived in Timothy’s grandmother Lois and his mother Eunice, now alive in Timothy himself. This paints a picture of spiritual legacy - faith passed down, nurtured, and now called into action. Paul’s charge to Timothy to “fan into flame the gift of God” is also an invitation for us today: to remember the spiritual heritage we have received and to faithfully build upon God’s grace for the sake of those who come after us.

This past Sunday, we had the opportunity to hear God’s Word preached by David Nguyen, a member of our congregation who previously served as a pastor in California before relocating to Penang. As a church, we seek to serve and work alongside one another for the advance of the gospel, and to steward our resources with generosity. This same spirit of partnership is extended through our Lead Pastor, Tim Nicholls, as he served at Christ Church Ipoh’s church camp in Taiping this weekend. We thank God for these opportunities to serve one another and for the fellowship we share in Christ, trusting Him to work through His Word in and among us.

第二次机会 (Second Chances) - 申命记 Deuteronomy 9:1 - 10:11

当我们面临失败的时候，总是希望有从头再来的机会；然而人生中不是每一次的重大决定都会有第二次的机会的。可是在申命记9-10章的经文中，尽管悖逆的以色列屡次得罪圣洁的上帝；但上帝却没有就此终结祂与他们列祖所立的盟约。相反的，透过摩西中保的代求，上帝再次地赐下恩典，给予罪人悔改的机会。这向我们展现了上帝的恩典，也显明了祂是一位信实守约，愿意赦免并赐下慈爱的上帝。来临的主日，邀请你和家人朋友一起前来十架冠冕教会聆听这篇讲道《第二次机会》，透过经文让我们看见，在罪人失败的背后，有着上帝更深的怜悯和恩典，那就是藉着祂的儿子耶稣基督所成就的救恩。

When we face failure, we always hope for a second chance; however, not every major decision in life offers a second opportunity. Yet, in Deuteronomy chapters 9-10, despite the rebellious Israel's repeated offenses against the holy God, God did not end His covenant with their ancestors. Instead, through the intercession of Moses, God once again granted grace, giving sinners a chance to repent. This demonstrates God's grace and reveals Him as a faithful, covenant-keeping God willing to forgive and bestow love. This coming Sunday, we invite you and your family and friends to come to the Crown of the Cross Church to hear this sermon, "The Second Chance," and through the scripture, see that behind the sinners' failures lies God's deeper mercy and grace—the salvation accomplished through His Son, Jesus Christ.

On Sunday, we gathered as usual for congregational singing, prayer, time in the Word, and post-sermon discussions. It was a simple but encouraging time as we continue to grow together through the regular rhythms of corporate worship and fellowship. We are thankful for God’s steady grace in sustaining our church life and the various ministries in our community. Please pray for our ministry leaders as they continue to serve and guide their teams, and for our church to remain focused on helping others follow Jesus, both within our congregation and beyond, so that more people may come to know and keep following Him as Saviour and Lord.
