Over the weekend, our Chinese congregation was blessed to have Elder James Chan, founder of Covenant Reformed Presbyterian Church in Taiwan, as our guest speaker. By looking at the Bible together, our Chinese service considered the importance of sharing the Gospel and how it shapes and encourages our lives and community. Meanwhile, our English congregation began a new sermon series through Isaiah - a rich book that points us to Jesus and God’s plan of grace and glory for his rebellious people and the world. We’re thankful for the careful teaching of Scripture and the conversations we share each week, and we look forward to growing together even in the weeks ahead.

Empty Religion, Real Repentance (Isaiah 1)

It’s possible to engage in many religious acts, while our hearts are far from God. It’s possible to attend church and serve outwardly, while our hearts lack genuine obedience. In Isaiah 1, God condemns the empty religion of his people. Yet, the Holy God still holds out hope for the repentant. Join us this Sunday as we consider what genuine faith and true repentance really look like.

What is the true key to a thriving church today? Is it growing numbers, signs and wonders, or a return to God’s Word? We are honoured to have Elder James Chan from Taiwan joining us to share God’s message. Elder Chan is the founding elder of Covenant Reformed Presbyterian Church in Taichung, Taiwan, as well as the founder of Exodus Press Company and Exodus Press & Media Ministry.

Through Matthew 28:16–20, he will share how the church is called to proclaim the Gospel, nurture believers through God’s Word, and live out the Great Commission entrusted by the Lord. We warmly invite you to bring your family and friends to join us as we receive and reflect on God’s Word together!

Together For the Gospel (同心为福音) (Philippians 腓立比书 1:27–2:11)

On Sunday, our combined service brought us to Philippians 1:27–2:11, where we were called to stand firm in one spirit, striving side by side for the faith of the gospel. Even in a world deeply divided by race, gender, status, and more, the gospel brings us together, uniting us as one people in Christ. We are reminded that true unity comes as we take on the mindset of Christ and imitate Him in humble, sacrificial service toward one another.

上个星期日，我们在中英文联合崇拜中，从腓立比书1:27–2:11看见我们被呼召同心合意，站立得稳，为福音的信仰并肩努力。在这个因种族、性别、地位等多方面而分裂的世界中，福音却将我们凝聚在一起，使我们在基督里合而为一。经文提醒我们，真正的合一源于我们效法基督的心志，存谦卑、舍己的心彼此服侍。

Cross and Crown Penang turned seven in May 2026! Last Sunday, we celebrated with a combined service across our English, Chinese, and Pinoy congregations, reflecting on God’s grace to us over the past seven years, followed by a time of fellowship over lunch. After our Annual General Meeting last month, several members were also recognised and affirmed in their roles as they serve the church in the coming year.

As the years pass and many changes come, we have not walked this road alone. The Lord has remained faithful to us. He is the God who saves and keeps His people, and He will not let us go; to Him belong all things, and to Him be the glory, now and always.

Together For the Gospel (同心为福音) (Philippians 腓立比书 1:27–2:11)

We live in a world deeply divided by race, gender, status, and many other things. But the gospel brings us together, uniting us as one people in Christ. The Unstoppable Gospel (Acts 19-20)

Over this sermon series, we’ve seen that the gospel cannot be stopped. As Paul sets his face toward Jerusalem and ultimately Rome, opposition intensifies and suffering increases - yet the word of the Lord continues to advance. In these chapters, God’s unstoppable purposes unfold through costly mission, faithful ministry, and courageous witness. As we come to the end of this series, we’re reminded to trust in His sovereign plan and to give ourselves wholeheartedly to His mission, whatever the cost.

As we wrapped up our final sermon in the Acts 19–20 series last Sunday, we were reminded again that God’s mission moves forward through faithful obedience, even in sacrifice. Thank you for journeying with us through this series.

We also want to share that Pastor Alex Lee and his wife, Linda, will be on sabbatical from 27 April to 26 July 2026. Please keep them in prayer for rest, reflection, and renewal in the Lord. During this period, Pastor Tim will oversee Pastor Alex’s regular responsibilities.

Model Ministry (Acts 20:17–38)

Godly examples of ministry are vital for churches and their leaders. Ministry is a weighty and dangerous calling, with threats from both inside and outside the church. In Acts 20:17–38, as Paul meets the Ephesian elders, he shows them what model ministry looks like and calls them to follow his example. What about us? Will we live as though Jesus and his gospel are the most important things in the world? Join us this Sunday as we consider Paul’s model ministry.

敬拜独一的真上帝 (Worship The One True God) - 申命记 Deuteronomy 6:1-25

敬拜并非只是一个古老的宗教词汇：它事实上揭示了我们内心所信靠顺从的对象，也意味着我们所敬拜的对象将会塑造我们的生命和价值观。在这个充满选择与声音的时代，我们是否仍然单单敬拜那位独一的真上帝？申命记6章向我们揭示，真正的信仰不只是外在宗教行为，而是全人全心爱上帝的生命。这段经文同时提醒我们，在丰富与安逸当中，人们最容易忘记了上帝的恩典。这个星期天，十架冠冕教会诚挚邀请你和家人朋友一起前来聆听上帝的话语，带领你看见我们生命中当真正敬拜信靠的上帝，并透过基督的福音思考这如何更新我们的生命所信靠追寻的，以至于我们应该思想：我们今日所敬拜的，是否真是那位独一的主？

Worship is not merely an ancient religious term; it reveals the object of our inner faith and obedience, and signifies that the object of our worship shapes our lives and values. In this age of choices and voices, do we still worship the one true God? Deuteronomy chapter 6 reveals that true faith is not just outward religious behaviour, but a life of loving God with all our heart and soul. This passage also reminds us that in abundance and comfort, people are most likely to forget God's grace. This Sunday, the Cross and Crown Church invites you and your family and friends to listen to God's word, to see the God we should truly worship and trust in our lives, and to reflect through the Gospel of Christ how this renews our faith and pursuit, so that we may consider: Is the one we worship today truly the one true God?
