Evangelization & Recruitment Drive at Church Of St Anthony Teluk Intan.

A small group stayed back after Mass and breakfast for the Prison Ministry recruitment session. We started at 10.00 a.m. with an opening prayer by Fr. Michael Dass, followed by San Nicholas, who explained the ministry in Tamil, and Peter in English.
Sharon, Petrina, Andrew and Eliz then shared their personal experiences of serving in prison, highlighting how the ministry brings hope, faith and God’s love to inmates.
Although the turnout was small, we were encouraged that 5–6 parishioners showed genuine interest and could potentially become new faith sharers. The session ended at around 11.00 a.m. Praise the Lord and Thanks to PDPM Perak for the event.

For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

On 12/8/26, PDPM coordinated a funeral Mass for an ex-inmate, commending our dearly departed brother to God. Although homeless here on earth, and his earthly body/tent destroyed, we trust he finds rest in God's eternal home in the heavens.

Thanks to all who have helped, contributed and participated in loving ways.

On the Feast of St Maximilian Kolbe, patron saint of our Prison Ministry, a few of us gathered for Holy Mass at Church of Holy Name of Mary Permatang Tinggi in thanksgiving and prayer.

Father Louis shared with us about how to love like St Maximilian — a love that comforts, forgives, gives hope and is willing to sacrifice for another.

May his example inspire us in our Prison Ministry to see Christ in every person we encounter, and to love with a heart that never gives up. 🙏❤️

The Malaysian CARE team — Sam, Siew Lin and Jacob — met with members of the Penang Diocesan Prison Ministry (PDPM) on August 12, 2026, in Penang for a time of fellowship and a fruitful discussion on their respective ministries.

Malaysian CARE is a Christian non-profit organization established in Malaysia in 1979, committed to serving the poor and needy regardless of religion or ethnicity. Among its many areas of service are prison visits, in-prison support, and providing shelter and assistance to former inmates as they rebuild their lives.

Representing PDPM were Steeven Phillips, Peter Teh, Chan Lilian and Anna Tan. The discussion focused on PDPM’s plans and the steps the ministry is taking towards providing more holistic care for prisoners.

Two areas highlighted were the development of facilities and support for juvenile prisoners as they prepare to return to society, and equipping prisoners with practical skills to help them face life and become more self-reliant after their release.

Both parties acknowledged that prison ministry is a challenging and costly area of service, with many practical difficulties along the way. Nevertheless, there was a shared hope that through continued dialogue, mutual support and collaboration, both ministries can learn from one another and work together more effectively in serving prisoners and those returning to society.

A meaningful meeting of two Christian ministries, united in the desire to bring hope, dignity and a better future to those in prison and beyond.
