Hay un solo cuerpo y un solo Espíritu, así como también vosotros fuisteis llamados en una misma esperanza de vuestra vocación. (Efesios 4:4) Los creyentes tenemos dos responsabilidades. La primera es adorar a Dios; y la segunda, trabajar en pro de su reino. Dónde servir y cómo hacerlo dependerá de nuestros talentos, capacidades, y llamado especial. Pero el lugar donde se espera que todos demos de nosotros mismos es la iglesia local.
Cuando usted fue salvo, el Señor le bautizó con el Espíritu Santo y le hizo miembro de su iglesia —el cuerpo de creyentes que viven en todo el mundo, pero que están unidos por la fe en Jesucristo. Usted entonces decidió, de acuerdo con la voluntad de Dios, ser parte de un grupo local y autónomo de creyentes. Él le puso allí porque sabía que usted lo necesitaba (1 Corintios 12:18).
Usted es importante para su iglesia local.
La iglesia es más que una comunidad. Es un cuerpo interdependiente con miembros que fueron creados por Dios para funcionar en comunión unos con otros. Nosotros, los cristianos, al igual que el mundo en general, somos un grupo diverso, y eso significa que tenemos que esforzarnos en pro de la unidad. Pero nuestras diferencias son realmente algo para celebrar, porque cada persona contribuye de manera especial al propósito de Dios. Una iglesia que funcione realmente como una unidad —con todos sus dones, talentos, personalidades e intelectos enfocados hacia los objetivos del reino de Dios— debe ser una imagen hermosa a los ojos del Señor.
El cristianismo no es una religión de espectadores. El cuerpo de Cristo funciona mejor y más hermosamente cuando todos los miembros deciden servir a Dios y servirse unos a los otros en la medida de sus capacidades (v. 25). ¿Qué está usted haciendo en pro de su iglesia?
Porque así como el cuerpo es uno, y tiene muchos miembros, pero todos los miembros del cuerpo, aunque son muchos, constituyen un solo cuerpo, así también es Cristo.
(1 Corintios 12:12) Cada día, usted se levanta de la cama, se viste, y camina hasta la mesa para desayunar. Saluda al resto de la familia y tal vez lee el periódico. Unos minutos después, conduce su auto hasta el trabajo. En la primera hora, más o menos, que está despierto, su cuerpo realiza miles de complejas tareas, tan rutinarias que pasan desapercibidas.
Nuestro cuerpo físico es una creación de singular hermosura y complejidad. Y aunque ciertas partes parecen más atractivas que otras, todas son útiles. La naturaleza interdependiente del cuerpo, es decir, la manera como cada parte depende de otras para funcionar bien, es una metáfora apropiada para una iglesia centrada en Cristo. Cuando los creyentes usan sus dones y talentos para trabajar juntos con amor, todo el cuerpo funciona bien para la gloria de Dios.
Sin embargo, las iglesias hoy están llenas de personas que se consideran insignificantes.
Al ver el exitoso trabajo de las demás, llegan a la conclusión de que no son realmente necesarias, o suponen que no tienen los talentos para aportar una contribución valiosa. Esas son mentiras del diablo. Cuando su engaño tiene éxito, lo que sucede con demasiada frecuencia, puede lograr que un cristiano más eche marcha atrás con la esperanza de que otra persona haga el trabajo para el Señor.
Retraerse en vez de buscar un lugar para servir, es una forma de robo: usted le está robando a la iglesia del Señor —a su pueblo—su contribución exclusiva. Su papel puede ser pequeño o pasar desapercibido, pero es vital para Jesucristo y el buen funcionamiento de su cuerpo en la Tierra.
ORACIÓN:
Señor, que nunca me sienta innecesario o insignificante en la tarea de servirte, sino que utilice siempre mis dones para contribuir al gran propósito que guardas para mi.
Dame la confianza para creer en que mis capacidades por pequeñas o grandes que sean, tendrán siempre un significado fundamental e importante, en la gran tarea de servir en Tu Cuerpo y hacer Tu Voluntad. Amén!

WE ARE NECESSARY IN THE BODY OF CHRIST
YOUR CONTRIBUTION COUNT!
There is only one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in the same hope of your vocation. (Ephesians 4:4) Believers have two responsibilities. The first is to worship God; and the second, work for his kingdom. Where to serve and how to do so will depend on our talents, abilities, and special calling. But the place where we are all expected to give of ourselves is the local church.
When you were saved, the Lord baptized you with the Holy Ghost and made you a member of your church—the body of believers who live throughout the world but are united by faith in Jesus Christ. You then decided, according to God's will, to be part of a local and autonomous group of believers. He put you there because he knew you needed him
(1 Corinthians 12:18).
You are important to your local church.
The church is more than a community. It is an interdependent body with members who were created by God to function in communion with one another. We Christians, like the world at large, are a diverse group, and that means we have to strive for unity. But our differences are really something to celebrate, because each person contributes in a special way to God's purpose. A church that truly functions as a unit—with all its gifts, talents, personalities, and intellects focused on the goals of the kingdom of God—must be a beautiful image in the eyes of the Lord.
Christianity is not a religion of spectators. The body of Christ works better and more beautifully when all members choose to serve God and serve one another to the extent of their abilities (v. 25). What are you doing for your church?
Because just as the body is one, and it has many members, but all the members of the body, although they are many, constitute one body, so is Christ. (1 Corinthians 12:12)
Every day, you get out of bed, get dressed, and walk to the table for breakfast, then greet the rest of the family and maybe read the newspaper. A few minutes later, you drive your car to work. In the first hour or so you are awake, your body performs thousands of complex tasks, so routine goes unnoticed.
Our physical body is a creation of singular beauty and complexity. And while some parts seem more attractive than others, they are all useful. The interdependent nature of the body, that is, the way each part depends on others to function well, is an appropriate metaphor for a Christ-centered church. When believers use their gifts and talents to work together with love, the whole body works well for God's glory.
However, churches today are full of people who consider themselves insignificant.
Seeing the successful work of others, they conclude that they are not really necessary, or assume that they do not have the talents to make a valuable contribution. Those are devil's lies. When his deception succeeds, which happens all too often, can get a more Christian to back down in the hope that someone else will do the work for the Lord.
Retracting instead of looking for a place to serve is a form of theft: you are stealing from the Lord's church—your people—your exclusive contribution. Your role may be small or go unnoticed, but it is vital for Jesus Christ and the proper functioning of your body on Earth.
PRAYER:
Lord, may I never feel unnecessary or insignificant in the task of serving you, but always use my gifts to contribute to the great purpose you hold for me. Give me the confidence to believe that my abilities, however small or great, will always have a fundamental and important meaning, in the great task of serving in Your Body and doing Your Will. AMEN!
