A telescoping crane is being used to lift heavy pieces of exterior cladding at the San Luis Potosí Mexico Temple construction site. The base and main body of the steeple have been clad, leaving the top tier to be completed. The steeple will later be capped with a dome-shaped cupola. Two other temples are under construction in Mexico: the Torreón Mexico Temple and the Querétaro Mexico Temple. (Photo: Cintia Cervantes De Anda)

The rising San Luis Potosí Mexico Temple, pictured here, is one of a dozen temples being constructed or in planning for Mexico. The country's first house of the Lord, the Mexico City Mexico Temple, was dedicated in 1983 and remained the only temple in Mexico for 16 years. During 1999–2002, 11 new temples were added across the country under President Hinckley's administration. Mexico's 13th temple came 13 years later in 2015. Once all of the temples announced for Mexico have been constructed, that number will double to 26. The 14th was recently dedicated in Puebla. (Photo: Jorge Ríos)

Prefabricated modules have been installed on the foundation for the San Luis Potosí Mexico Temple, located approximately 265 miles (426 kilometers) northwest of Mexico City. Glass windows have been installed in the openings, enclosing the structure and allowing interior finish work to move forward. Construction on the project began 8 months ago with a groundbreaking ceremony held in March. (Photo: Ruben)

On Saturday, March 9, 2024, groundbreaking services were held for the San Luis Potosí Mexico Temple. In attendance were religious leaders, government officials, journalists, special guests, and dozens of Church members. Elder Sean Douglas of the Mexico Area Presidency presided at the ceremony and pronounced the site dedicatory prayer. He prayed, "Help us to increase our commitment to keep our covenants."
