A Final Farewell to Papa Ramon
On July 17 and 18, we gathered to honor the life and legacy of Papa Ramon.
The service on July 17 at San Antonio de las Minas was standing-room-only, filled with family, friends, El Sauzal staff, alumni, and community members. Samuel Acosta, son of the man who led Ramon to the Lord, shared how God called Ramon as a pastor. He described him as “the complete package”—a man who sang, preached, and played the guitar with passion. Powerful testimonies were shared by those whose lives were deeply impacted by Ramon, including children from El Sauzal and even his great-grandson.
On July 18, we followed a funerary caravan to San Antonio Necua, the indigenous reservation where Ramon pastored for 32 years. The people of Necua showed up early, paying their respects in a beautiful display of love. After a final service, we said our goodbyes as we laid him to rest beside his wife, Magdalena, surrounded by the peaceful mountains.
Papa Ramon’s legacy of love, service, and devotion to the Lord will continue to inspire us. His works remain, touching lives long after his passing. As Revelation 14:13 says, “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on... they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.”
