Progreso Expat Emergency Assistance

Good morning, all! I hope everyone is well. I want to start building teams for Progreso and each of the beach communities. I am asking for volunteers to be team leaders. If possible, I would like two contact people for each team. An initial contact and a back up if the first person is not available. You would be responsible for coordinating people to help when required for your area. Who wants to be a Team Leader? I am taking Chicxulub Puerto centro, and Diane Chambers will be heading up east Chicxulub. I will also help the Team Leader for Progreso and anywhere else in an emergency.

The Social Security Administration (SSA) doesn't have its own offices in Mexico. Instead, the U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Mexico have Federal Benefits Units (FBUs) that provide services related to Social Security. These FBUs handle applications for Social Security cards, retirement, disability, and other benefits, as well as benefit entitlement issues, fraud investigations, and changes to benefit entitlements.

How do I call Social Security from Mexico?
You may also contact us by phone if you speak English. You can call our office at 410-965-0160. You will need to pay for the call because we do not currently have a toll-free service for calls from outside the U.S. If you call, please do so between 9:00am and 4:00pm Eastern U.S. Time.

You know them, you love them, you just don't know what to do with them. One of the most challenging things about driving in Merida is the dreaded roundabout. How do they work? How do you negotiate them without being run over by a bus and three motorcycles? Like jumping in on double-dutch jump rope, timing is everything. No matter what direction you approach them, they are always moving in a counter-clockwise direction. So, look to your left. When you see an opening, go for it. If you are going to take the first or second exit, get in the outside lane. If you are going further around, stick to the inside and then get to the outside lane in a break in the cars that are existing on the first one. It is a delicate ballet, but take your time and stay calm. You will pick it up fast once you get used to it.
