I am blessed to be the mother to two children and numerous foster children. As a young mother, taking care of my babies involved a combination of breastfeeding and formula feeding. All the decisions I made about feeding my “Little Darlings” were made with the desire to give them what they needed to grow and be healthy. I relied on my knowledge of nutrition, instincts, and the Lord to know what was best for each child.
Poor nutrition in the first 1,000 days of a child’s life—from conception through pregnancy to the child’s second birthday—can lock children into a lifetime of devastating health challenges. As part of the Relief Society’s Child Nutrition program, we are working to educate mothers around the world about the benefits and options for feeding babies to give them the best start on a healthy life.
Will you tell me about your experiences and challenges with feeding babies in the comments below? Let’s learn from each other.
