Luke 21:25-36 (ENGLISH)

25 “And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves, 26 people fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world. For the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 27 And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”
29 And he told them a parable: “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. 30 As soon as they come out in leaf, you see for yourselves and know that the summer is already near. 31 So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that the kingdom of God is near. 32 Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all has taken place. 33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
34 “But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap. 35 For it will come upon all who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

La venida del Hijo del Hombre
25 »Habrá entonces señales en el sol, en la luna y en las estrellas. En la tierra, la gente se angustiará y quedará confundida por causa del bramido del mar y de las olas. 26 El miedo y la expectación de las cosas que sobrevendrán en la tierra hará que los hombres desfallezcan, y los poderes celestiales se estremecerán. 27 Entonces verán al Hijo del Hombre venir en una nube, con poder y gran gloria. 28 Cuando esto comience a suceder, anímense y levanten la cabeza, porque su redención estará cerca.»
29 También les contó una parábola: «Fíjense en la higuera y en todos los árboles. 30 Cuando ustedes ven que brotan sus hojas, pueden saber que ya se acerca el verano. 31 De la misma manera, cuando ustedes vean que todo esto sucede, podrán saber que ya se acerca el reino de Dios. 32 De cierto les digo, que todo esto sucederá antes de que pase esta generación. 33 El cielo y la tierra pasarán, pero mis palabras no pasarán.
34 »Pero tengan cuidado de que su corazón no se recargue de glotonería y embriaguez, ni de las preocupaciones de esta vida, para que aquel día no les sobrevenga de repente. 35 Porque caerá como un lazo sobre todos los que habitan la faz de la tierra. 36 Por lo tanto, manténganse siempre atentos, y oren para que se les considere dignos de escapar de todo lo que habrá de suceder, y de presentarse ante el Hijo del Hombre.»

24 »En aquellos días, después de esa gran aflicción, sucederá que el sol se oscurecerá y la luna dejará de brillar; las estrellas caerán del cielo y los poderes celestiales se estremecerán. Entonces verán al Hijo del Hombre venir en las nubes con gran poder y gloria, y él enviará a sus ángeles para reunir a sus elegidos de los cuatro vientos, desde los extremos de la tierra hasta los extremos del cielo.
»De la higuera deben aprender esta parábola: Cuando sus ramas se ponen tiernas, y le brotan las hojas, ustedes saben que el verano ya está cerca. De la misma manera, cuando ustedes vean que todo esto sucede, sepan que la hora ya está cerca, y que está a la puerta. De cierto les digo que todo esto sucederá antes de que pase esta generación. El cielo y la tierra pasarán, pero mis palabras no pasarán.
»En cuanto al día y la hora, nadie lo sabe, ni siquiera los ángeles en el cielo, ni el Hijo. Sólo el Padre lo sabe. Pero ustedes, presten atención y manténganse atentos, porque no saben cuándo llegará el momento. Es como cuando alguien deja su casa y se va lejos, y delega autoridad en sus siervos y deja a cada uno una tarea, y ordena al portero mantenerse despierto. Así que ustedes deben mantenerse despiertos, porque no saben cuándo vendrá el señor de la casa, si al caer la tarde, o a la medianoche, o cuando cante el gallo, o al amanecer; no sea que venga cuando menos lo esperen, y los encuentre dormidos. Esto que les digo a ustedes, se lo digo a todos: ¡Manténganse despiertos!»

The Coming of the Son of Man
24 “But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will be falling from heaven, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.
“From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near. So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that he is near, at the very gates. Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
“But concerning that day or that hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard, keep awake.[a] For you do not know when the time will come. It is like a man going on a journey, when he leaves home and puts his servants[b] in charge, each with his work, and commands the doorkeeper to stay awake. Therefore stay awake—for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows,[c] or in the morning— lest he come suddenly and find you asleep. And what I say to you I say to all: Stay awake.”
