Journey To A Harvest

Journey To A Harvest We serve the deaf of Mexico full time. We desire to assist them with discipleship, translating, micr

Many people don’t think about the deaf and blind. We are encountering more and more people who are blind or almost blind and require a different way of translation. Yesterday at church we had an elderly man both blind and deaf and also only knew ASL (American Sign Language).
So grateful to have people who know ASL to help translate for him.
Gaby watched what Carlos was signing in LSM (Mexican Sign Language) and then translated it to ASL for him. This is always so fascinating for me.
This past class we took at the Deaf Association we had to practice this with each other, closing our eyes and seeing if we understood what was being signed in our hands. It was very different and difficult to understand.

Buenos días 🙌🏻 familia y amigos ❤️
It’s been a hot minute since we last updated. Finally getting settled back into our normal routine again 🙌🏻

Our 2 Interns left last weekend and are now finished with their debriefing in Orlando and back in their countries again. We enjoyed having them with us for 10 weeks and were very impressed with their fast language learning skills (language learning is always easier the younger you are). We continue to pray for their future calling and obedience to that calling.

We recently got to celebrate Kayla’s birthday and in true Kayla style it was a Luche Libre party 🎉
It was a fun time and also a great send off for our interns. In other news………………Kayla is engaged 🎊
She got engaged to Gibran (Mexican National) and starting to wedding plan.

Another big announcement………. we have added another teammate to our team 🙌🏻🙌🏻 Joaquin is a well respected deaf man in the community here and we are beyond excited to have him join us. Our team is looking more and more like heaven, every tribe and every tongue.

We are seeing God move and work in so many ways and we are just so so grateful to be such a small part of it all.

We would love for you to join us in praying for the following:

*Our up coming Deaf fellowship at Bimba on Aug 23rd
*2 Interns (Sierra & Rachel) as the transition back after being here all summer. It’s hard to say goodbye and leave. Also for their future callings.
*Joaquin as he integrates into our team and ministry with us.
*Kayla as she starts this new chapter in her life.
*For all the details and planning of the Deaf retreat in November. Pray for the deaf that will come and for Issac who will be teaching the Bible again this year.
* For our team’s walk with the Lord to stay deeply connected and focused on Him so that we have much to pour into others.

Thank you so much for your continued prayers, love and support!!! We are grateful for each of you. We are praying blessings over you this week.

We have been settling back in to regular ministry schedules and trying to catch up on the many things that sometimes have to wait when we have so many things happening back to back.

We finished up our Field visit and transitioned back into regular schedules again. Our original visit was canceled due to sickness of the leaders and had to be rescheduled and only 2 days to get a lot accomplished. But we did it!!

Our Edgers are now halfway through their time here. They have been doing great with helping on whatever needs done and their language learning. They are communicating with the deaf and getting to know them. We are grateful for their willingness to jump in and help with whatever. That’s not always the case when people come to serve but it sure makes it easier on us when there is such a willingness without complaint.

We have our monthly Bimba gathering coming up this Sunday so please be in prayer that we would have a good turn out and have a great evening together. Please pray specifically for the younger deaf to come, we are trying to be intentional on getting to know this next generation and sharing with them.

Many of our teammates will be taking vacation time coming up and enjoy being with their families. Please pray for safe travels and also that when they return their regular scheduled activities will resume quickly. We have noticed that when we have to pause our regular ministry activities it usually takes a while for people to resume coming back.

Other prayer request:
1. The annual Retreat in November. All the planning is underway now.
2. Pray for wisdom and discernment about our first deaf gentlemen joining our team.
3. Pray for G who is attending bible study and church but is really struggling with what he believes and salvation
4. Pray for us to be able to add more CODA’s to our ministry of helping them with homework and tutoring
5. Pray for us to start meeting new deaf here in Ensenada
6. Pray for the continued growth and maturity of the believers that we are discipling each week. God is really moving and working in their lives.

Thank you so much for your faithfulness in prayers, love and support. We are so so grateful for each of you!! ❤️🤟🏻

Whew we are ministry 😴 tired but oh so full of joy and gratitude.

Last night at Bible study JA accepted Christ as his Savior and surrendered his life. JA has been coming to church and Bible study for a while but would consistently disappear for long periods of time due to shame and conviction of a sinful life style.

He contacted Mike Monday when we were at the Medical clinic and told Mike he was struggling and needed help and some counsel. So Mike went to his house late Monday night (10pm when we got home) and talked with him.

Last night he confessed his sins to the men here and surrendered his life to Christ 🙌🏻🙌🏻 Mike said that every man was crying and immediately jumped up to hug and love on him. He said it was a beautiful night.

Thursday night we crammed 18 ladies in our little house for Bible study. We had 4 languages being translated that night. LSM, ASL, Spanish and English ❤️. The only language that needed NO translation was God’s love ❤️

We celebrate the 2 lives surrendered to Christ this week and ask that you pray for EM & JA as they walk out their salvation. Pray for us to disciple them well and help them mature in their faith.

Pray for tomorrow’s event at Bimba as we gather with our beautiful community to fellowship and love on them well. Pray for a great turn out and a great time together.

Day 3 the finale 🙌🏻🙌🏻

We didn’t see as many patients here but was able to give more in depth care and get our teams needs met.

Alas Church was amazing and kind and took really good care of us yesterday. We love this church because they focus on families that have children with special needs and disabilities. The pastor and his wife came to realize that church is not always the most welcoming place for families with special needs children. So some years ago they started a church to welcome families like theirs to come and be loved, cared for and fed the word of God.

We were down 4 helpers/translators as well yesterday but it all worked out just fine. Just kept us super busy and unable to snap a lot of pictures.

This group also offered private counseling appointments for anyone who needed it. As well as group trauma therapy, we had several deaf that took advantage of having such services available.

It was an amazing 3 days with lots of love and care being shown to each person. We are ministry tired but so so grateful. Thanks for your prayers and keep them coming! We hit the ground running today with the mission team from FL.

Day 2 clinic was another great day 🙌🏻🙌🏻 and we praise the Lord for a surrendered life to Jesus!!!!

One of our Bible study ladies surrendered her life to Jesus yesterday while receiving care at the clinic- God is so so good.

Please pray for EM as she starts her new life in Christ.

Please pray for our final clinic day today. We have been able to serve many deaf and their families. Our hearts are filled with joy as we have had an opportunity to meet needs, love on them and pray with and over them. To God be ALL the glory 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Saturday we had a great start to our 3 day medical and dental clinics. Our group of medical professionals from LA are amazing and showing Christ love in so many ways.

Continue to pray for us and them. Some of our team members are interpreting for the first time. Pray that we all have clarity in our LSM and communicate well in every situation. We even had a national news station reach out to us to interview us about our clinics we were doing. That’s a first and encourages us knowing that we are bringing awareness to the hearing.

The group from LA brought their children to serve alongside them. They are working hard and learning to be the hands and feet of Jesus. It is a beautiful thing to watch. It also brings back so many beautiful memories of our girls serving alongside us on so many mission trips. We are never too young or too old to learn how to love people like Jesus!!!

The mission team from Florida arrives tomorrow so pray for safe travels. Pray for our clinics today and tomorrow to be fruitful and run smoothly. Pray for Jesus’s love to overwhelm everyone that comes.

Bible studies continue to go well. The men have 2-3 new guys that are starting to be consistent in coming and have started attending church on the regular as well. We are so grateful for every area and life we see God working in. The ladies continue to be faithful in attendance and are learning about Spiritual gifts. They had no idea about spiritual gifts so they are learning through skits and other visual activities to help them understand.

Another big prayer request we have is to pray for Joaquin. He is a deaf gentleman that we have known since we moved here. He loves the Lord and wants to serve God and his community. He talked with us years ago about wanting to serve and do things like we do. We have been pouring into him for years. He is well respected in the community, a great communicator and just a blessing to everyone. We have asked him to pray and consider joining our team. This will be huge for him, our team and the deaf community. Pray for wisdom and discernment for all of us as we seek to follow where we see God leading.

We also celebrated Caro’s 27th birthday 🎂 last week. We have the best team!!! We love them dearly ❤️

God is doing great and mighty things in this community and we are beyond blessed to get to see Him working up close and personal in their lives.

Thanks again for your faithfulness in praying for us as we seek to make much of Jesus here in the Deaf community. Dios te bendiga 🤟🏻

The past several weeks have been incredibly busy with our normal ministry activities, while also adding several new opportunities that are helping deepen relationships and strengthen sign language skills within our team.

Kayla and Ward have both added new weekly ministry activities that have been such a blessing already. Kayla has started teaching a baking class where she is teaching how to make different types of breads and sweets. Our hope is that these skills may also help spark ideas for ways some could eventually make and sell baked goods to help provide additional income for their families.

She also started a “Breakfast Burrito Club,” where she makes a different style of breakfast burrito each week and the deaf score and review them together. It has turned into such a fun time of fellowship over coffee, laughter, food, and conversation. Kayla says it is also helping her improve her Mexican cooking skills along the way!

Ward has begun teaching an art class as well. He is starting with the basics while looking for those who may have a deeper passion and gifting in art that he can continue helping develop and encourage. They are having a wonderful time learning together and building meaningful friendships through these classes.

It has been so exciting to watch both of them continue growing in their sign language abilities while also building stronger relationships within the Deaf community.

Bible studies are going very well. The men have been taking turns sharing their testimonies so they can become more comfortable and confident sharing them with others. Last week Jasmine taught the women’s Bible study and did an excellent job.

We are also preparing for our two Edgers who will arrive this Sunday to begin their 10-week journey with us. Please pray for them as they seek God’s direction and plan for their lives during this season.

In just two weeks, we will also welcome two teams that will overlap during their time here. One is a mission team from Florida, and the other is a medical team from California that will provide several days of free medical, dental, and mental health services for the Deaf and their families.

Please pray for strength, wisdom, and smooth coordination as we continue our regular ministry activities while also hosting and serving alongside these additional teams.

Our monthly fellowships at Bimba continue to go wonderfully as well. We had a great turnout at the most recent gathering and truly enjoyed the sweet time together.

Many of you have also been praying for Oakley. We are so thankful to share that he is doing much better, finally gaining weight, and growing stronger. We praise the Lord for the miracle of saving him and allowing us more time with him.

We are deeply grateful for each of you — for your faithful prayers, support, encouragement, and love. Please know that we are praying for you as well and continually thanking God for each one of you.
