Did you know Easter doesn’t end on Sunday? Easter Monday, observed this year on April 6, is a continuation of the celebration of Jesus Christ’s resurrection — a chance to keep that spirit of joy and hope alive.

It’s part of what is known as the Easter Octave, a tradition that extends the celebration throughout the week. In many places around the world, it’s a day for rest, spending time with loved ones, and enjoying the meaning of the season a little longer. In Mexico, it falls within Semana Santa, a deeply meaningful time of reflection and tradition.

Easter Monday is a simple reminder that the message of Easter isn’t just for one day — it’s something we can carry with us beyond Sunday.

Easter Message of from our +Bishop. Ricardo J. Gómez

LET US CELEBRATE THE FEAST, ALLELUIA!!!

The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is the definitive triumph of life over death, love
over sin, and hope over despair.
This central event of the Christian
faith, which we celebrate at Easter,
transforms fear into joy, offering
eternal life and a new way of being,
marking God's victory through his
Son Jesus Christ.

The Resurrection is not only a
historical event, but a present-day
power that conquers sin and
death, bringing hope to humanity.
It offers a living hope, assuring
eternal life and the promise that,
like Christ, believers will also rise
again.

The Resurrection illuminate’s
existence, giving meaning to pain
and uncertainty, and invites us to
live in a loving relationship with
Jesus.

Today the Church celebrates this mystery with joy, understanding that God's love has prevailed, transforming sadness into lasting jubilation.

Easter, then, Dear brothers and sisters, is a time of profound joy that invites us
to celebrate that life has triumphed.
Alleluia! Christ, our Passover, has sacrificed himself for us.

The Right Reverend Bishop Ricardo J. Gómez

Years ago in Central America, Ollie Booker met a woman named Margarita who was struggling financially. Gifted in sewing, she began creating handmade dolls using fabric scraps from local markets, along with doll hair that was sent to her. What began as a small idea soon became something meaningful — each doll shaped by her hands, her resourcefulness, and her spirit. Now that Margarita has passed, they remain as one-of-a-kind expressions of her life and talent.

The dolls shown here reflect this same handmade tradition, where textiles and dress express shared culture, history, and identity across Latin America. Among them are "Quitapenas" dolls — small “worry dolls” that children hold close at night, trusting their cares will be carried away by morning.

These dolls will be shared with clergy across the diocese, and some will be given to children on Easter Sunday, a small gift of comfort, love, and hope.
