I (Jon) could really use some prayer. Last week I was dealing with a head cold and/or some allergies (I felt a bit stuffy in the head). I didn’t think too much of it. I went to sleep on Tuesday and woke up on Wednesday not being able to hear out of my right ear. I figured it was clogged from the head cold or maybe even an ear infection. I went to the doctor in the local pharmacy here in our colonio and she looked in my ear and said she did not see any infection, but it looked like there might be some liquid in my ear (behind my ear drum). She prescribed me a nasal spray, and some other medicine and inhaling saline water through a nebulizer. Yesterday, Sunday, my ear was still clogged and I told Nancy I was going to go back to see the doctor on Monday. Nancy began to look at ear, nose and throat specialists and found one in the city in the same building that Zoey’s pediatrician has an office. We got an appointment for today at 4:00pm and went to see what she thought. After telling her how I just woke up and I could not hear and then how I have been treating it for fluid in the ear, the look on her face was not a look I wanted to see. She began to look in my ears and said, “There is no fluid in your ears. There is no infection. I believe you have experienced acute hearing loss.” She went on to explain that this can happen for absolutely no reason in 90% of those who experience it. It is good we caught it within the first 7 days because there is a greater chance to reverse this with the use steroids. She then sent me down the hall to another doctor to immediately have a test done to see the extent of loss. It was a very frustrating time to say the least. I would say I certainly did not pass this “test”. So, I will be on a steroid regimen over the next 15 days. This means I will finish that regimen the day Nancy and I fly to Mississippi for three weeks.
I know that God is in control and I and my hearing are in His hands. Would you please join us in prayer for my complete healing? This sudden and unexpected news of acute hearing loss has shocked me a bit, if I am honest. But it has not shook my (our) faith. I know that Jesus is still in the healing business and He can do great and amazing things. I trust Him completely. So, I ask for you to please pray. With this news also comes another thing we were not expecting…added expenses. Things have been a bit tighter financially at the beginning of this year because we had the expense of general maintenance on our vehicle ($150) and new plates and registration for our vehicle ($150). Also, with our upcoming trip to Mississippi, we had the expense for my and Nancy’s airfare ($1,075). Now with this happening we have added medical expenses. The two doctor visits were $70 each. Medicine was another $50. Again, we know that Jesus is our provider and has and will always take care of us. We also believe in prayer as part of the process of helping meet our needs. So, if you would, please pray concerning that as well.
I am sorry for this long post, but I thank you for your prayers and support through all of this. Pray for healing, pray for the financial needs to be met and pray against the voice of the enemy trying to speak discouragement and worry into me. Thank you, it really does mean so much to know people are praying and feel those prayers lifting my spirit.
