Since WELS started the mission in Malawi in 1963, the Lutheran Church of Central Africa – Malawi (LCCA-M) has grown to more than 44,000 members in 133 congregations served by 29 national pastors. WELS now partners with the LCCA-Malawi in theological education, mainly through the Confessional Lutheran Institute (CLI) which provides formal continuing education, professional development for pastors, and seminary consultation.

The day we were waiting had come. The Lutheran Bible Institute is currently testing the young men who have shown interest to become pastors in his Church. We thank the pastors in the LCCA for selecting 31 young men to come to LBI for interviews. Our day began with a devotion from 1 Peter 2:9 under the theme you are all mine. Then we had to remind them about the need to adhere to COVID preventive measures. Then lessons are in progress

Today the Lutheran Bible Institute begins a week-long process of selecting the Malawian men who will be a part of the next LBI class. From the 30 candidates who have come, we will need to select no more than 13. Those who are chosen will become a part of the next intake of students, together with 7 men who have been selected from Zambia. In this video, the students begin their lessons with a hymn.

Today, the Lutheran Bible Institute has begun a week long process of selecting the next students from Malawi who will attend the LBI. Out of 30 possible candidates, we will need to select no more than 13. These will form the next class, together with the 7 men who have been selected from Zambia. In this video, our pre-LBI candidates begin their lessons with a hymn.
