Devotion: Dig for Results
Proverb 12:11 “He who tills his land shall have plenty of bread, but he who chases fantasies is void of understanding.”
The opening scripture can also be read in Easy English Version as Proverbs 12:11 "A farmer who does much work has plenty to eat. But a fool wastes time on dreams."
So it's important to work on the dreams rather than wasting more time on some irrelevant things. Put your hand to work on your vision. Till the land, or dig that which needs to be dug. There is no success for a lazy person.
We read in Luke 16:3 "Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord is taking away from me the stewardship: I CANNOT DIG; I am ashamed TO BEG."
The alternative of not digging is begging. It's either you are a hard worker or you are a beggar. Beggars are those who rely on other people to do everything for them.
Beggars want to ride on the success of others. Beggers want it easy. Refuse to be a beggar. There is no dignity in begging. Choose to be a digger.
Isaac dug, planted, and harvested. Dig your own works and let success be your portion as you work hard.
In Genesis 26:12-14 "Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year one hundred times what he planted. The LORD blessed him. The man became wealthy and prospered more and more until he became very wealthy.
He had possessions of flocks, possessions of herds, and a great household. The Philistines envied him."
Additional scripture: Pro 24:30-34 ISV, I went by the field belonging to a lazy man, by a vineyard belonging to a senseless person.
There it was, overgrown with thistles, the ground covered with thorns, and its stone wall collapsed.
As I observed, I thought about it; I watched, and learned a lesson: “A little sleep! A little slumber! A little folding of my hands to rest!” Then your poverty will come upon you like a robber, your need like an armed bandit.
