After prayerful and careful consideration, a body of believers in a full Gospel for both Soul and Body, not desiring to remain independent from church organization,
a)but determined to know nothing among men except Jesus Christ and Him crucified,
b) feeling the great burden for souls,
c) seeing the great spiritual dearth around them, and the lack of clear Bible teaching along the line
s of Justification, Sanctification, the Baptism of the Holy Ghost and Fire, also Water Baptism and the healing of the body,
believed led of God to take a step and organize themselves in an association for the advancement of Christ’s Kingdom on the earth. For this purpose they met in Buffalo, New York, on the seventh day of May 1912. By majority vote of members present, it was decided that the said body of believers be known as the “Pentecostal Holiness Church”, subject to change at the first general conference. The said general conference was held at Greece, Monroe Country, New York. At a session of the said conference held on the first day of August, 1912, it was decided by a majority vote that the body be incorporated and be known as the “Pentecostal Holiness Association”. It is the purpose of the said association to do all it can for the salvation of the lost, giving aid to the needy, fallen and afflicted, bringing to those who walk in spiritual darkness the knowledge and love of God through the teaching of His Word by the “Pentecostal Holiness Association”. On May 2, 1931, a resolution was passed at the General Conference convened in Union City, Pennsylvania, authorizing the formation of an African Conference. In 1933, the Pentecostal Holiness Association was introduced in Malawi and was incorporated on 10th November 1959. A new certificate of incorporation was obtained under the Trustees Act Chapter 5.03 of the Laws of Malawi in 1966 to align the church with political change and new legal requirements of the country. On 1st September 1966, the constitutive rules and by-laws of the Pentecostal Holiness Association were revised in the United States of America.
