The Finished Work of Christ
Text: John 19:30
“When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.” (KJV)
The greatest words ever spoken on the cross were, “It is finished.” Jesus did not say, “I am finished,” but “It is finished.” The work that the Father sent Him to do was completed. Through His death and resurrection, Christ secured salvation, victory, and reconciliation for all who believe.
1. The Debt of Sin Was Paid
Colossians 2:13-14. Sin separated humanity from God, but Jesus paid the full price on the cross. The record of our sins was canceled through His sacrifice.
We do not earn salvation by works; we receive it by faith in Christ.
2. The Way to God Was Opened
Hebrews 10:19-20 Through the blood of Jesus, believers now have direct access to God. The veil was torn, and fellowship with God was restored.
You can approach God with confidence because of what Christ has done.
3. Victory Over Satan Was Won
Colossians 2:15 Jesus defeated the powers of darkness through His death and resurrection. The enemy's power over believers was broken.
Lesson: We fight from a position of victory, not for victory.
4. A New Life Was Made Available
2 Corinthians 5:17 Anyone who is in Christ becomes a new creation. The finished work of Christ brings transformation and hope.
Your past does not define you; Christ gives you a new beginning.
The finished work of Christ means:
✓Salvation is complete.
✓Sin has been forgiven.
✓Access to God has been restored.
✓Victory has been won.
✓New life is available to all who believe.
