For every desire that the Lord has for His people, He makes a provision to bring it to pass. One of His desires is that we walk in the supernatural.

To walk in the supernatural means to live beyond normal human ability through the power and influence of God. It is to experience and operate in realities that cannot be explained by natural strength, wisdom, or human effort alone.

For this to become a possibility, God has made several provisions. One of those provisions is His anointing.

No one can truly walk and operate in the supernatural without the anointing of the Holy Spirit. It is through the power of God at work within us that we are able to function beyond natural limitations and manifest the supernatural.

The anointing empowers believers to do what they could never accomplish by their own strength. It enables us to become vessels through whom God's power, wisdom, and glory are revealed to the world.

Therefore, if we desire to walk in the supernatural, we must value and cultivate a relationship with the Holy Spirit, for it is through His anointing that supernatural living becomes a reality.

Psalm 92:10 (KJV)

"But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil."

The truth of the matter is that virtually every miracle and testimony in our lives involves the anointing. It is through the anointing that supernatural growth is made possible.

Actually, I could have simply written one sentence and said that we need the anointing for everything. However, the essence of this teaching is to show us how that works and, at least, to explain one by one why we need the anointing. Trust me, we need the anointing in almost every aspect of our daily lives.

We need the anointing of God on a daily basis because we need God's power on a daily basis. Who can survive without the power of God? If God were to withdraw His power from us for even a second, we would be doomed. But hear this: for growth, you need the anointing.

Growth speaks of increase in size, number, value, and development, and all of this is made possible by the anointing. To say that you need the anointing for growth is not an exaggeration or an attempt to sound overly spiritual; it is simply the truth of the matter. Growth comes by the anointing.

2 Corinthians 10:4–5 (KJV)

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”

You do not have to provoke the devil for him to fight you. The kingdom of darkness does not need to be reminded to attack you; fighting you is part of its core assignment. From the day you were born, you entered into an existing battle, and you will leave this earth still engaged in warfare.

We are speaking about spiritual battles, which often manifest in the physical realm. The devil is your enemy—indeed, the Bible presents him as the only true enemy we are warned against.

To live in victory in spiritual matters, you need the anointing. This is how God makes our weapons mighty in Him. There is no battle you can win in life, spiritually speaking, without the anointing.

The battles we fight are altar against altar, power against power, and sacrifice against sacrifice. Those in the kingdom of darkness understand this and use power to fight. If we are to win, we must also fight with power—the anointing of the Spirit of God.

MESSAGE TITLE: FUNCTIONING IN THE ANOINTING

Exodus 30:29 (KJV)

“And thou shalt sanctify them, that they may be most holy: whatsoever toucheth them shall be holy.”

No matter your background, everyone whom the Lord has anointed is sanctified. One of the purposes of the anointing is sanctification. To be sanctified means to be set apart for a special use. There are certain things you cannot do for God unless He has anointed you for them.

To sanctify means to make acceptable. Therefore, when the Lord anoints you, it means He has made you acceptable for assignments such as prophesying, preaching, healing, and serving in His work. This is how God endorses people — He sanctifies them through the anointing. So when we say God has anointed you, it simply means He has endorsed you.

To be anointed also means to be approved. Jesus was approved to heal the sick and to do good. The anointing is a sign that the Lord has approved you for an assignment.

Deuteronomy 28:11 (KJV)

“And the Lord shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers to give thee.”

Supernatural increase is an extraordinary growth, blessing, or advancement that happens by the power and favor of God beyond normal human ability or expectation. It is when God causes multiplication, promotion, expansion, or progress in a person’s life in a way that cannot be explained by natural means alone.

It can happen in different areas such as finances, wisdom, influence, spiritual growth, ministry, strength, peace, and opportunities.

Naturally, things increase, but they are subject to many factors such as space, time, and energy. Most of the time, natural increase is slow. However, with God, increase is fast because it is established by His Word, and His Word is living, powerful, quick, and sharper than any two-edged sword.

You do not only need increase; you need supernatural increase. It is by the anointing of God that supernatural increase is made possible.

Luke 1:37
“For with God nothing shall be impossible.”

It is through His power that God does the impossible. In the book of Jeremiah, God Himself declares that there is nothing too hard for Him. Truthfully speaking, there is absolutely nothing that God cannot do. As Pastor Jerry Eze commonly says, “What God cannot do does not exist.”

Now, do you realize that God wants you to do what is impossible with men? Oh glory! Yes, there are things that are impossible with men, but possible with God. Once you see a man doing what only God can do, know that such a man has been anointed by God. Until you are anointed, you cannot do that which only God can do.

There is a prophecy given by Jesus in the book of John: that those who believe in Him and have the Holy Spirit shall do greater works than He did during His earthly ministry. In fact, the works Jesus did were also meant to show us how we ought to live.

Only God is all-knowing. Therefore, when you see a prophet revealing mysteries, understand that it is the result of the anointing of God. No man can raise another man from the dead by his own power, but when that man is anointed by God, the impossible becomes possible.

You see people laying hands on the sick and they recover — that is the anointing at work. You see people casting out devils — that is the anointing at work. Therefore, you need the anointing to do the impossible.

And this is not limited to ministry alone. Whether in academics, business, career, or any other area of life, you need the anointing to accomplish what ordinary human ability cannot achieve.

Jeremiah 1:5
(KJV) “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.”

Here is another reason why you need the anointing: it is a requirement for fulfilling your God-given purpose. The purpose of a pencil, for instance, is to write; however, if it has not been sharpened, it cannot fulfill its purpose.

You have a purpose, yes, but to fulfill that purpose you must be sharpened for it. That is the role of the anointing — it sharpens you so you can do what God has called you to do.

Any man with a calling who has not been anointed has a purpose, but he is blunt. No matter how decorated or gifted he may appear, he cannot be effectively used. Even a blunt panga is still called a panga; however, it is only after it has been sharpened that people can fully use it.

This should tell you that there are many prophets who are not anointed, many apostles who are not anointed, and many businessmen who are not anointed. Being called something does not automatically mean you are anointed. Even blunt pangas are still called pangas.

You need the anointing. Titles do not guarantee results in your assignment; it is the anointing that does.

(KJV) “...for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.”

As the subject of our discourse stipulates, having understood what the anointing is, let us now talk about why you need the anointing.

For starters, as a believer, you need the anointing of God because it is a requirement for walking in dominion. No man can truly walk in dominion without the anointing.

To walk in dominion means to exercise authority and power. However, without power, you cannot exercise power. Simply put, to walk in authority, you must be authorized. That is what it means to be anointed by God — it means to be authorized and empowered by Him.

Until God has empowered you, you cannot walk in power, neither can you function effectively in the anointing.

To walk in dominion is to live as someone who has been given permission and power to rule, lead, and govern in a certain area.

You see, no matter what God tells you to do, it can only be enforced by the power of God, and that is what the anointing is. You need power to enforce what authority has declared. It is the anointing that makes your words produce results.
