📅The 3rd Africa Scout Academy kicks off today in Nairobi, Kenya!

Twenty-nine participants from 24 countries have gathered for a three-day program (12- 14 February) designed to strengthen their capacities and competencies in innovative youth programme development and in resource mobilisation and asset management.

This initiative has been made possible through the generous support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in partnership with World Scouting, under the Messengers of Peace Fund.

Today the National Catholic Scout Coordinator Deodatus Muriya who is also the Youth Programme Commissioner for the Scout Association of Malawi has left the country to attend the 3rd Africa Scout Academy to be held in Nairobi from 11th to 15th February, 2026. According to Deodatus Muriya, he has said that the 3rd edition of the Africa Scout Academy training seeks to equip selected leaders with the relevant skills and competencies in innovative Youth Programme design and resource mobilisation and asset management towards making Campsites and Centres self-sustaining.

An Introduction to Scouting training was conducted last Sunday at St Matthew’s Musisi Catholic Church, an outstation of St Joseph Mendulo Parish, in Mulanje District. The training introduced participants to the basic principles, values, and purpose of scouting, with emphasis on youth development, discipline, community service, and spiritual leadership and formation in line with Catholic Scouting.

The training was facilitated by Edward Nyamz and involved simple discussions and practical activities. Participants gained basic knowledge of scouting and Catholic scout identity, and expressed commitment to promoting leadership, faith, and service within the parish and its outstations.
