SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST, FALLS CHURCH
07th June 2025 Divine Service
*Failure to Minister: A Call to Faith and Trust*
On June 7th, 2025, the Seventh-day Adventist Falls Church hosted a "Get Together" event for Senior Youth Leaders (SYLs), Master Guides, Young Adults, and other Adventist Youth from the Lilongwe South District. The gathering aimed to strengthen the youth movement and provide an opportunity for the CMC Youth Department leadership to impart guidance and encouragement.
During the Divine Service, Central Malawi Conference Youth Director Pastor Ben Zilinde delivered a powerful sermon titled "Failure to Serve or Failure to Minister." Drawing inspiration from Numbers 14:41-43, Pastor Zilinde highlighted God's unwavering support for the Israelites during their exodus from Egypt. Despite their challenges, God led them with a cloud by day and fire by night, demonstrating His commitment to their success.
However, Pastor Zilinde lamented that many church members today fail to achieve their goals due to a lack of faith in God's promises. He rebuked the spirit of doubt and disbelief that often permeates the church, leading to spiritual blindness and hindered progress. "We need to minister to our fellow members and others with strong faith and belief in God Almighty Jehovah, despite obstacles in our daily lives," he emphasized.
The Youth Director stressed the importance of committing one's plans and actions to God, quoting Proverbs 16:3, "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans." He reminded the congregation that God's power and ability are limitless, citing Jeremiah 32:27, "I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is there anything too hard for me?" Pastor Zilinde also highlighted the effectiveness of God's word, referencing Isaiah 55:11, "So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."
In his call to action, Pastor Zilinde encouraged members to enlarge their faith, just like Joshua and Caleb, who demonstrated unwavering trust in God's promises. He urged the congregation to pour their hearts into Jehovah Almighty with belief and faith, recognizing that ministration is only possible when God is at the center of our endeavors. By committing to God and trusting in His power, Pastor Zilinde assured the members that they can overcome challenges and achieve success in all their endeavors.
Pastor Zilinde concluded by asking the congregation to raise their hands to Jehovah God Almighty to have belief, trust and faith like Caleb and Joshua who had strong faith that helped Israelites to forge ahead into the promised land of Canaan.
Amen
