You Don’t Serve God to Get Things; Citizenship in the Kingdom Attracts Resources
When you come to God, it’s not about what you can get from Him. Serving God isn’t a transaction where you do good and expect Him to give you wealth, success, or fame in return. Instead, when you fully belong to His Kingdom, His blessings naturally flow into your life—not because you are chasing them, but because of who you are in Christ.
Dr. Myles Munroe once said, "You don’t serve God to get things; citizenship in the Kingdom attracts resources." This means that when you understand your identity as a child of God, resources will follow you. You don’t have to beg for them. It’s like being in a royal family—you don’t have to fight for the royal benefits because they already belong to you. You don’t have to prove yourself to earn a place at the table; your seat is reserved.
The Blessing of Belonging
Matthew 6:33 says it best: "But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." Jesus didn’t say, "Seek things." He said, "Seek the Kingdom." Jesus tells us not to worry about what we will eat, drink, or wear because God knows we need these things. If He takes care of the birds of the air and the flowers of the field, how much more will He care for you? (Matthew 6:26-30). Your Father knows your needs even before you ask Him. But His concern is not just to meet your physical needs; He wants to meet your spiritual needs first.
True Riches Come From God
The Bible reminds us that God’s gifts are much greater than the temporary treasures of this world. Luke 12:32 says, "Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the Kingdom." You already have the greatest gift—citizenship in His Kingdom. And from that citizenship flows ever
