MINISTRY OF ANGELS (Part.2)

Beloved, we shall now proceed to look into the subject of Angels, at the end of this presentation we will look at:
• Who are Angels
• The nature of Angels
• Classes, dominions and principalities
• The work of Angels and how they are employed in heaven

ANGELS AND THE SUPERNATURAL

The natural world involves what we see, feel, hear, taste and smell, it is the visible world where humans live in, in all this realities there is also an invisible world which influences our visible world, it is the world of the supernatural--- Today we will discuss abaut the ministry of angels,
WHO ARE ANGELS?

Angels are heavenly beings created by God and around the throne of God, superior to man in intelligence and greater in power and might(see: 2Chron 18:18 ,Rev 5:11,Neh 9;6,psa 8:5,103:20,2pet 2:11)
The word "angel" is translated from the Hebrew word "mal'ak" and Greek word "aggelos" which means; messenger, representative, or the theophanic angel
THE NATURE OF ANGELS

Angels are spirits that minister before the throne of God and carries out His will .”He maketh His Angels spirits,His ministers a flaming fire” psa 104:4 kjv
Beloved pay close attention here: the Bible says He makes His Angels SPIRITS... Angels are Spirits with a spiritual body sent by God with a message, now psalm 104:20 mentions two categories: Angels and Ministers, the ministers are not really angels though they may play the role of Angels, in our previous presentation we described these ministers to be ; Cherubims and Seraphims around the Throne of God and are of flames of fire.
Angels are Spirits with a human form... throughout the Scriptures those who encountered angels encountered them in a human form; Angels can manifest like humans to minister to us;
~ Abraham received human visitors who were angels(see: Gen 18:2)
~ Lot received two men who were angels(See: Gen 19:1-5)
Etc....
Angels can appear in the glory of their heavenly bodies or manifest themselves like humans to minister to us (see: Heb 1:14), this is possible because the spiritual body has the ability to manifest in tangibility.
In this modern times, many of us might have encountered angels unkownly as humans, the Bible says;
Hebrews 13:2
"Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!"
Angels are Spirits with spiritual body in a human form.
DO ALL ANGELS HAVE WINGS?
--------------------------------------------------
Contrary to our preconceived ideas about angels to be winged creatures, a careful study of scriptures reveals that Angels do not have wings, only a sect called the ministers have.
Angels appear in human form and in the glory of their Heavenly bodies... Majority of the angels do not have wings, cherubs and Seraphs are described in scriptures to be winged creatures and serve as ministers.
This is why..
~ Jacob wrestled with an angel wingless in human form (Gen 32:24-30)
~ when the Angel of the Lord appeared to Manoah and his wife, Manoah did not realize it was the Angel of the Lord until the Angel disappeared in the midst of the sacrifice (See: Judges 13:1-22)
E.g:
Two angels appeared before the disciples when Jesus ascended into heaven... the Bible says;
"They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly TWO MEN DRESSED in WHITE stood beside them." Acts 1:10 (Emphasis)
Beloved, pay close attention here: they saw the angels as two men dressed in white and again at the resurrection the appearance of angels where described as;
"While they were wondering about this, suddenly TWO MEN in CLOTHES that GLEAMED LIKE LIGHTNING stood beside them." Luke 24:4 NIV( Emphasis mine)
Beloved, pay close attention here: Angels appear in the glory of their Heavenly bodies in human form gleaming like lightning. As we can see, most angels seen to appear to people in scriptures are not described with wings.
Because of the preconceived ideas of angels following the various art works of describing angels with wings and drawings, many think or see angels as wing creatures which is not entirely true.
Most of those who have angelic encounters do not always see angels with wings but in the glory of their Heavenly bodies in human form.

WORKS OF ANGELS

They are ministering spirits(see:Heb 1:14)
Angels are sent by God to do His pleasure..they are messengers who obey His commands (Psa 103:21), they are employed in service.

B. Power over rapacious animals----Angels closed the mouths of Lions in Daniels time (see: Dan 6:22)
C. Destruction of sinners (see: Gen 19:1, 2kings 19:35)
D. Healing and infliction of infermities (see: 1 chron 21:14-16)
E. Protection of saints (See: psalm 34:7)
F. Holding of natural laws (See: Rev 7:1)
G. Explaining of mysteries in visions ( See: Daniel 10:5-14)
H. Serving the needs of the saints (See: 1 Kings 19:5-7, Matt 4:11)
I. In the last days the Angels shall gather the harvest.....those unto eternal life and those unto condemnation (See: Mathew 24: 31)

HOW MANY ANGELS ARE THERE?

The Bible says there are ten thousand times ten thousand and thousands of thousands----they are innumerable (see: Rev 5:11,Heb 12:22)
Hebrews 12:22 NLT
"No, you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to COUNTLESS thousands of angels in a joyful gathering." (Emphasis)
Beloved pay close attention here: there are countless or innumerable angels in joyful assembly, there are no specific known numbers of Angels, there are myriads: millions upon millions.
WHY ARE SOME ANGELS BAD

The bible gives a distinction between good and evil Angels,did God create evil angels,why are some angels bad,how did some angels come to incur the wrath of God? We proceed the study with the topic :
THE FALL OF LUCIFER
The bible tells us that in the beginning God created heaven and earth with all their host and at the end of creation He saw that it was good.God created everything good and perfect.(see: Gen 1,Neh 9:6). God created the host of heavens good and perfect,among the host of heaven was an Angel called Lucifer who now become known as Satan the devil,how did such a perfectly created being become an enemy of God and the origin of evil and chaos.
Angel Lucifer was created a perfect angel in the beginning full of wisdom and beauty,an anointed cherub, a musician, but he became proud because of his beauty, so he wanted to covet the throne of God, and become like God (see: Ezek 28:1-,Isaiah 14:13,14) by seducing some other angels and trying to misrepresent the image of God through lies and sowing seeds of discontent among the Angels. Lucifer(satan) led a revolt against the government of heaven(John 8:44), through deception 1/3 of the angels associated with him in rebellion, then war broke out in heaven , Michael the archangel together with God’s angels fought against Lucifer (satan,devil,serpent) and his angels and his angels fought back but did not prevail nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer, Satan(Lucifer) and his angels(demons) were thrown out of heaven( Isa 14:12,Rev.12:3-10). Jesus said “I saw satan fall like lightening from heaven”Luke 10:18, Satan and his angels(demons) fell down on earth. Satan the dragon was enraged with the church and he went to make war with the rest of the offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.(Rev 12:12,17) satan walks around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour,resist the devil with the blood of Jesus and faith in the word ,and he will flee from you.
THE FALL
Demons or fallen angels where once in heaven before the rebellion and casting them out, it was after the were cast out of heaven because of sin that they became known as demons or evil spirits.
WHERE ARE THOSE ANGELS OR SONS OF GOD WHO SINNED IN NOAH'S DAYS?
In the Book of Genesis we understood that there was a day when the sons of God came down to marry the daughters of men and their descendants were the nephilites Who were giants on earth (See: Genesis 6:1-5), Even those days, the extent of wickedness on earth was great and God decided to destroy the earth with a flood.
Beloved, now the question is...who were this sons of God as mentioned in this account?
There are two theological school of thoughts on this;
1. There's one that believe these sons of God refers to the descendants of Seth and the daughters of men to belong to the descendants of Cain
2. The other believes the sons of God refers to Heavenly beings or Angels who left their assignment to marry the daughters of men.
These are the school of thoughts describing these account, however, I personally believe comparing scriptures that these sons of God refers to Heavenly beings or Angels. Here is why....
SONS OF GOD WERE HEAVENLY BEINGS

Throughout the Old testament the phrase "son of God" was mostly used to describe heavenly beings or Angels or one in relation to divinity, there was no instance where mortal men were called sons of God after the fall of Adam. The book of Job recorded that Angels and the sons of God shouted for joy during creation... the Bible says;
Job 38:7kjv
"When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?"
The sons of God were present when God was laying the foundation of the earth (See: Job 38:4-7), so we can as well believe the sons of God were not ordinary men, again the occurrence of the the phrase "son of God" was used in the case of the three young Hebrew men in the furnace in Babylon. The Bible says;
"He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the SON OF GOD." Daniel 3:25 kjv (Emphasis)
When Nebuchadnezzar exclaimed about the fourth man in the fire to be like the "SON OF GOD" was a prompt description that is understood to be a divine entity.
Therefore, in the old testament "Sons of God" were divine entities or representatives as used in Job (1:6)
Therefore the mention of sons of God in Genesis 6 refers to Heavenly beings.
Now, let's make a clarification here...one may say "why was Adam also referred to as the Son of God" in Luke 3:38
~ It is the Spirit of God that makes us sons and daughters of God and Adam was created directly by the Spirit of God (See: Job 33:4) and thus he was referred to as a son of God, however, after the fall the descendants of Adam became known as the Son of men or sons and daughters of men. This is why in the book of Ezekiel the phrase "son of man" is predominantly used to refer mortal man
SONS OF GOD IN THE NEW TESTAMENT

In the New testament the right to be called sons and daughters of God was given to all those who believe in Jesus Christ because by believing in Christ Jesus the Spirit of God gives birth to a new life or creation and you having the Holy spirit in you makes you a child of God. (See: John 1:12, John 3:6)
The Bible says;
"You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus," Gal 3:26 NIV
Hallelujah!!
Now, let's get back to discovering what happened to those Heavenly beings who intermarried the daughters of men in the days of Noah...
WHERE ARE THOSE ANGELS OR SONS OF GOD WHO SINNED IN NOAH'S DAYS?
These Heavenly beings left their natural estate and came down to marry and giving birth to niphilims or giants of those days with wickedness on the earth, when God brought the flood upon the earth to destroy the wicked, these sons of God who left their estate try to return back to heaven but there was no place for them because of their disobedience, and thus were put in chains in deep darkness....
The Bible says; Jude 1:6
NIV
"And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their own home--these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day."
KJV
"And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day"
Beloved, pay close attention here: these angels left their position of authority, their domain or habitation in heaven and came to marry, in this respect, Jesus said "Angels do not marry"(See: Matt 22:30, Mark 12:25), these angels or sons of God acted in disobedience by living their estate to intermarry with the daughters of men, For that God did not spare them.
The Bible says;
2 Peter 2:4.
"For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;" kjv
The word HELL translated in this verse is from the word "Tartarus".
By definition;
Tartarus is the deepest abyss of Hades
Tartarus was originally the name of the subterranean region, doleful and dark, regarded by the ancient Greeks as the abode of the wicked dead, where they suffer punishment for their evil deeds; it answers to Gehenna of the Jews.
Beloved, the Bible says the Angels who rebelled in the days of Noah have been held in chains in the deepest portion of hell for the judgement of the great day.
This means the Angels who sinned in Noah's days have been kept in chains for the judgement of the great day, they are not roaming because they were not part of Satan's rebellion and his minions who are roaming as demons and unclean spirits, however, they are held in chains for judgement.

VISIONS OF GOD, HEAVENLY BEINGS AND ANGELS

Part.1
Beloved, I will like us to look into the subject of heavenly beings and Angels, a study into the scriptures.
Heavenly beings or Angels were created before the foundation of the Earth, the Bible says;
Genesis 1:1
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."
The Heavenly beings were created before the creation of the Earth and everything in it... God said to Job;
"Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation? Tell me, if you understand.
WHILE the morning stars sang together and ALL the ANGELS shouted for joy?" Job 38:4,7 (Emphasis)
Beloved, pay close attention here: when God laid the foundations of the Earth all the angels were present and they shouted for joy. This tells us that all the Heavenly beings were around before the creation of Earth and Man. Now let's have a climpse of the Heavenly;
CLIMPSE OF THE HEAVENLY

When we talk about the Heavenly, many people think about God and Angels however they are more to that. They visions by the prophets and Apostles in the Bible reveals a glimpse of the Heavenly which include;
1. God on His Throne
2. The four living creatures (Cherubims)
3. Seraphims
4. Thrones (24 elders)
5. Angels
See: Daniel 7:9-10, Isaiah 6:1-2, Revelation 4:2-6
Beloved, I will like us to have a brief description of the Heavenly court as we proceed on our studies....
GOD ON HIS THRONE
----------------------------------
Beloved, I will like to emphatically state that no one has seen God face to face, for He dwells in an unapproachable light and reveals Himself in the person of His Son (See: 1 Timothy 6:16, 2 Timothy 1:10).. The Bible said;
"No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, He hath declared Him." John 1:18
At this point, many will be wondering about Moses and others who have a record of seeing God face to face (See: Numb 12:8), the Bible says;
"With Him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the SIMILITUDE of the LORD shall he BEHOLD: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?" Numb 12:8kjv(Emphasis)
Beloved, pay close attention here: Moses saw the SIMILITUDE of the Lord.. the word "SIMILITUDE" is translated from the Hebrew root word "תְּמוּנָה"(temuwnah) which means;
form, image, likeness, representation, semblance
Moses did not see God's face but rather saw His representation or form... This was why Moses requested God to show him His face (See: Exodus 33:18-23) and God replied;
"But," He said, "you cannot see my face, for no one may see Me and live." Vrs 20
This tells us that, Moses did not see God face to face but rather he saw the similitude of the Lord as He is, as He talked to him mouth to mouth, this is why the Bible says "No man hath seen God at any time;" John 1:18a
DESCRIPTIONS OF VISIONS OF GOD ON THE THRONE

The people of Israel saw UNDER the feet of God and described as;
Exodus 24:10
"There they saw the God of Israel. Under His feet there seemed to be a surface of brilliant blue lapis lazuli, as clear as the sky itself."
• Under His feet there seemed to be a surface of brilliant blue lapis lazuli, as clear as the sky itself."
Daniel saw the vision of God; the Ancient of days seated on His throne: the Bible says;
"As I looked, "thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took His seat. His clothing was as white as snow; the hair of His head was white like wool. His throne was flaming with fire, and its wheels were all ablaze." Daniel 7:9 NIV
Daniel saw the similitude of the Ancient of days:
• His Clothing as white as Snow
• Hair of His head was white like wool
Apostle John saw the similitude of Jesus in His glory.. the Bible says;
Revelation 1:14-15
"His head and His hair were white like wool, as white as snow. And his eyes were like flames of fire.
His feet were like polished bronze refined in a furnace, and his voice thundered like mighty ocean waves."
John Saw the Lord:
• His head and His hairs were white like wool, as white as snow
• His eyes were as a flame of fire;
• And His feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace
Beloved pay close attention here; John saw the Lord Jesus to have the same similitude with the Ancient of days that Daniel saw. Why is this so?
The Bible says;
Colossians 1:15a NLT
"Christ is the visible image of the invisible God."
This is why Jesus said" I and My Father are one" and " Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father" John 10:30, 14:9
and again the Bible says;
Colossians 2:9 NLT
"For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body."
Beloved, this truth reveals who Jesus is? That is why no one can come to the Father or truly know God except through Jesus Christ (See: John 1:18, 14:6). Hallelujah!!
THE THRONE
---------------------
Daniel saw;
• a fiery throne: His throne was flaming with fire
John saw;
• A rainbow, resembling an emerald, encircled the throne.
• Before the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits of God.
• before the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal
• In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures, and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back.

Beloved, now let us proceed to the next scene...
2. THE FOUR LIVING CREATURES
-----------------------------------------------------
Beloved, there are four living creatures that surrounds the throne of God what are these living creatures?... The prophet Ezekiel had a description of these living creatures in a vision....
~ In appearance their form was that of a man; the looked like human
~ Each has four faces and four wings and under each of their wings you could see human hands
~ Each had a human face in the front, the face of a lion on the right side, the face of an ox on the left side, and the face of an eagle at the back.(See: Ezek 1:10, Rev 4:7)
~ They moved straight forward in any direction without turning around: They moved in any of the four directions they faced, without turning as they moved.
~ Their legs were straight, and their feet had hooves like those of a calf and shone like burnished bronze.
~ Each had wheels beside them, the rims of the wheel are covered with eyes all around
See: Ezekiel 1
Beloved, this is a description of the four living creatures that surrounds the throne of God, prophet Ezekiel further describes this living creatures, the Bible says;
"This is the LIVING CREATURE that I saw under the God of Israel by the river of Chebar; and I knew that THEY WERE the CHERUBIMS." Ezek 10:20 kjv (Emphasis)
Beloved pay close attention here: the living creatures are called CHERUBIMS. Beloved now let's understand the work of this living creatures called cherubims, going back to the beginning;Genesis, we see the scriptures made mention of cherubims... the Bible says;
Genesis 3:24 NLT
"After sending them out, the Lord God stationed mighty CHERUBIM to the east of the Garden of Eden. And he placed a flaming sword that flashed back and forth TO GUARD the way to the tree of life." (Emphasis mine)
After Adam and Eve sinned against God they were driven out of the garden of Eden and God placed cherubims to guard or protect the tree of Life... Beloved, we can see the work of cherubims, they protect or guard the presence of God they are more or less like guardian angels that protect the atmosphere of God's glory, this is why when God commanded Moses to build the Ark of the covenant He instructed him to design covering Angels which are cherubims representing them covering of the glory of God... the Bible says;
Exodus 25:20NLT
"The cherubim will face each other and look down on the atonement cover. With their wings spread above it, they will protect it."
The cherubims cover or protect the glory of God, God is entroned between the cherubims or the living creatures... the Bible says;
"O LORD Almighty, God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim.." See: Isa 37:16, psa 99:1
Cherubims surrounds and guard the glory of God, God is entroned between the cherubims.. the Bible says " dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto;" 1 Tim 6:16b, cherubims protect the Glory and the Glory of God rises above the cherubims to go forth to display His radiant glory (See: psa 80:1, Ezek 9:3)
The living creatures are cherubims of divine glory
Now let's proceed on our next focus...
3 SERAPHIMS

Who are they Heavenly beings called SERAPHIMS?
When Prophet Isaiah had a vision of the Lord sitted on the Throne, he saw Heavenly beings called SERAPHIMS... the Bible says;
Isaiah 6:1-3 NLT
"It was in the year King Uzziah died that I saw the Lord. He was sitting on a lofty throne, and the train of his robe filled the Temple.
Attending him were mighty SERAPHIM, each having six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew.
They were calling out to each other,
“Holy, holy, holy is the lord of Heaven’s Armies!
The whole earth is filled with his glory!” (Emphasis)
Beloved, Seraphs, from the vision of Isaiah are seen to be ministering to the Lord they never cease praising God day and night. They have similar description with cherubim(See: Rev 4: 8) from the vision of Isaiah seraphs have;
• Have six wings,With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew.
• From the etymology of the word SERAPHS; They are believed to be in the shape of fiery Serpents
Seraphs minister to the LORD; in praises saying in a loud voice; Holy, Holy, Holy....
Now, how many are these Heavenly beings who attend or minister to the Lord?
In a vision by Prophet Daniel beholding the Heavenly court... the Bible says;
Daniel 7:10
"A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands MINISTERED unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand STOOD BEFORE him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened." kjv (Emphasis)
"and a river of fire was pouring out,flowing from His presence.Millions of angels MINISTERED to Him; many millions STOOD to ATTEND Him.Then the court began its session, and the books were opened." NLT (Emphasis)
Beloved, pay close attention here there are two groups of Angels that are seen in this vision of Daniel, the angels that minister to the Lord and those who stood before him to attend to His command. those who minister to the Lord are thousands upon thousands or millions but those who stood and ready to attend to the Lord are 10,000 times 10,000 which is about millions upon millions of angels.
If seraphims Minister to the LORD and Daniel saw millions of angels ministering, we can as well believe Seraphs are numerous in ministration, they are a choir of Angels.
Now, they other group of angels who stood before Him; myriads or millions of millions are Angels who are waiting to receive a command to minister to Man or carry out His plans.. the Bible says;
"Bless the LORD, you His angels,Who excel in strength, who do His word, Heeding the voice of His word" psalm 103:20 NKJV
Beloved, this angels who stand before God are awaiting to heed His voice and carry out His plans... Jesus said;
"Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in HEAVEN THEIR ANGELS always SEE THE FACE of My Father who is in heaven." Matt 18:10 Nkjv (Emphasis)
Beloved pay close attention here: their Angels always SEE the face of My Father, God has assigned Angels to minister to our needs accordng to the will of God, these Angels wait to heed His Word before they minister to us... the Bible says;
"Are they not all ministering spirits SENT FORTH to minister for those who will inherit salvation?" Heb 1:14 Nkjv (Emphasis)
So then, the myriads of Angels that stand before the Throne of God are always looking at the face of God awaiting His Word to carry out His plans and minister to us...
Now, let's look into the subject of the 24 elders or thrones...
THRONES OR 24 ELDERS
----------------------------------------
In the Heavenly court, there are visions of thrones around the the Throne of God...
Prophet Daniel Saw THRONES,...
• Daniel saw thrones around God's THRONE (See: Dan 7:9)
John the Revelator saw a clear vision of this thrones, in all he saw 24 thrones, seated on them were 24 elders.... the Bible says;
Revelation 4:4
"Twenty-four thrones surrounded Him, and twenty-four elders sat on them. They were all clothed in white and had gold crowns on their heads."
Beloved, 24 thrones surrounded the Throne of God, and on them sat 24 elders. At this moment many people will like to know who these 24 elders are?
Who are these 24 elders sitted on 24 thrones?
~It has not been made clear who these 24 elders are, perhaps in the future if the Holy Spirit reveals through the scriptures we will make further studies on it to identify them all, however, 12 of them are seems to be made referenced to by Jesus... the Bible says;
Matthew 19:28 NLT (Emphasis)
"Jesus replied, “I assure you that when the world is made new and the Son of Man sits upon His glorious throne, you who have been MY FOLLOWERS will also SIT on TWELVE THRONES, judging the twelve tribes of Israel."
Beloved pay close attention here: Jesus said His followers will also sit on 12 thrones... Hallelujah!!, Could it be the twelve Apostles?, The Bible says;
1 Corinthians 6:3a NLT
"Don’t you realize that we will judge angels?"
The Apostle Paul said we will judge angels, yes, only those on a throne can pass judgement and therefore twelve thrones are for the disciples of Jesus Christ.
Now, the vision of the New Jerusalem reveals something;
• The wall of the city had 12 stones of which the names of the 12 apostles of Jesus were written ( Rev 22:14)
• The city had 12 gates of which the names of the 12 tribes of Israel were written (Rev 22:12)
Could these two sets of names represent the 24 elders? Since one set of names Jesus mentions as sitting on 12 thrones (Luke 22:30, Matt 19:28)
We will see into this in a later teaching....
