SUNDAY SERVICE WITH PASTOR JOSEPH
TOPIC : THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CHURCH IN HOSTING AND STEWARDING HIS PRESENCE
God's interest has always been to dwell permanently and manifest His presence in and through the church. This comes with the weight of responsibility for the church to host and steward His presence well. A church that is careless with God's manifest presence can not be able to sustain it. To fully maximise the benefits that come with His presence, the church should know how to behave and conduct herself;
1. Being conscious of the presence of God.
Every assembly or gathering by the church, God is there. We should never be familiar with His presence that we miss or quench what He is doing.
2. Not being comfortable with sin.
The church should not tolerate sin , in fact we should hate sin with a passion. God will reveal Himself mightily to the church that pursues and follows the path of holiness and righteousness.
3. Walking in agreement.
A church that is divided and does not speak the same language can not do significant things for the Master. Where there is unity of purpose and order, God will bless such a gathering.
4. Valuing Church meetings. Church meetings are called in the name of the Lord and not of our own. When we attend such meetings and are punctual, we honour the presence of God.
5. Serving in the house of God.
We do not come to church to sit down and receive only. We come to serve the purposes of God, and by doing so, God will reveal Himself to give divine assignments.
6. Interceding for one another.
The church of God prays for one another, unlike condemning and ruining each others image. When life is hard or one is fallen , the church is there to uplift in prayers.
7. Meeting the welfare needs of others.
The church that will sustain the presence of God is the church that provides and meets the needs of those in lack.
