On Saturday, 21st March 2026, the Malawi Translation Team traveled to Chitipa District to conduct a community check. Chitipa is one of the most remote and hard-to-reach districts in the country. The team endured approximately 24 hours of travel to reach the area, demonstrating strong commitment and determination to ensure that the Word of God reaches every part of Malawi.

Despite the long and challenging journey, the mission was a success. All video content from the Book of Ruth, Chapters 1 and 2, was reviewed and approved by the community. This marks an important milestone in making Scripture accessible in Malawian Sign Language.

We sincerely thank the Deaf Bible Society (DBS) for their continued support, which made it possible for the team to reach such a remote location and carry out this important work.

As it is written in The Holy Bible, β€œHow beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” (Romans 10:15).

On 17 January 2026, the Malawi Bible Translation Team conducted a successful community check as part of our ongoing work. In the first months of this year, we are developing a dictionary from the books of Genesis, Jonah, and Ruth, which will support our translation process and speed up community-level approval of signs.

So far, 250 words have gone through community check β€” 226 have been approved, while the remaining words are being revised based on community feedback.

We sincerely appreciate all members who participated in this noble task. Our goal is to ensure that God’s Word reaches Deaf people in the language they understand best. Together, we are empowering the Deaf community spiritually. πŸ™

πŸ“ Embangweni, Mzimba – International Day of Persons with Disabilities
πŸ“… 3rd December 2025

Today, the Deaf Bible Translation Malawi (DBTM) team had the honour of participating in the International Day of Persons with Disabilities commemorations held in Embangweni, Mzimba.

We proudly showcased the ongoing work of translating the Bible into Malawian Sign Language, a journey that continues to bring God’s Word closer to the Deaf community across the country.

A notable government minister - Mrs Mary Navicha visited our booth and commended the impact of our work, highlighting the importance of creating more awareness about Deaf Bible translation so that no Deaf person is left behind spiritually.

We remain committed to ensuring accessible Scripture for every Deaf Malawian.

πŸŽ‰ Celebrating Deaf Bible Translation in Malawi! πŸ™ŒπŸ“–

We are excited to share a beautiful testimony highlighting the impact of the Deaf Bible Translation project in Malawi. Recently, we interviewed Ruth Nkando, who spoke about her spiritual journey since the project began in late November 2024.

Ruth shared how receiving God’s Word in Malawian Sign Language has strengthened her faith and deepened her understanding of Scripture. Her story is a powerful reminder of why this work is so important.

We celebrate Ruth and every Deaf believer whose life is being transformed through accessible Scripture. Thank you to all our translators, partners, and supporters who make this mission possible.

It was a tremendous success! Deaf Bible Translation proudly participated in this year's Deaf Week Open Day, held from September 29th to October 3rd, showcasing our work and engaging with various organizations. Our Pastor Willie Mphaka delivered an inspiring opening prayer, setting the tone for a meaningful event. We appreciate the opportunity to connect with others and explore potential partnerships. Kudos to the organizers for a well-coordinated event. We're already looking forward to next year!
