Morning Devotion

7 “The Lord gives justice to the oppressed and food to the hungry. The LORD frees the prisoners. 8 The LORD opens the eyes of the blind. The LORD lifts up those who are weighed down. The LORD loves the godly. 9 The LORD protects the foreigners among us. He cares for the orphans and widows, but he frustrates the plans of the wicked.” Psalms 146:7-9

Is this the God we see in the Bible? Is this the God we pray to? Where do we find this God in our Christian lifestyle?

The truth is, the God we worship in the Bible has always taken the poor, downtrodden and displaced people seriously.

He expects us to do the same. We serve God when we serve others. Ask God to show you ways you can serve the needy. He cares. Do we?

Let's pray: Lord, we confess that we need to be more compassionate. We need to be more proactive in helping the lonely, the hurt and the distraught. Please show us the ways we can start to love those in need the way You do. Even today, lead us to someone we can help. This is the we are here for.
AMEN

Acts 5:29

"Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men."

The Holy Ghost is for everyone and everyone may not possess the gift but everyone CAN. It is discouraging to tell someone who has got this desire that the Holy Ghost is not necessary. If someone is praying to be filled with the Holy Ghost, let them. Do not project your disbelief in these matters onto them! If you lack faith in the baptism of the Holy Ghost you should not ask others to be in cahoots with you. That is sheer wickedness.

Job:1:1-14 ff

Job was perfect and upright. He feared God and detested evil. He had everything, children and wealth. But, Satan attached Job's love for God to conditions. If God touched everything he had, Job would curse God. Indeed, God sanctioned Satan's woes on Job's wealth among others but not his life.

Satan sought permission from God to deal with Job. However, Satan has no power over our lives so long as they are in God's hands. Satan rejoices when we are suffering. But, his rejoicing is not permanent.

Job was reduced from somebody to nobody. If it were us, we could have cursed God. Job did not. In his suffering he still saw God's blessings upon his life. Being steadfast in your faith does not mean living a life that is devoid of suffering.

In this life, we encounter tough moments. We also get bad advice from our friends and even church mates. Job was told by his wife to curse God. Job did not. He did not die either. God sustained his life until God bless him doubly. God did not forsake him.

Our husbands forsake us when we are in trouble. Our wives do the same. God does not.
Our theme says, "FROM DEFEAT TO VICTORY." Job was defeated but later he emerged victorious. He did not use shortcuts to deal with his woes.

Let us depend on God's blessings since they are permanent. Job did not divorce his wife after God's double blessings upon his life. Let's be relentless in dependence on God.

James 5:11_Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is pitiful, and of tender mercy_

Christians need to be enduring and persistent in their belief in God. We challenge evil by waiting upon God's pitifulness and tender mercifulness.

*Today's messages are messages of encouragement.*

God's words are more powerful than double edged swords. These double edged swords are charms and corrupt means that are depended upon in this life. We must depend on the scripture and not shortcuts.

We are here proclaiming God's greatness in our lives. Even in the most challenging year of 2020, God has made us move from one level to the other.
