Youthfest is a community and platform with an aim to engage with young people in a creative & safe space in order to help them grow and live purposefully in Christ. Youth Fest is an event that was conceived by the Youth and Young Adults leadership of Blantyre Baptist Church and is meant to be an interdenominational event. Our plan has been to join forces with different youth ministries both of the
church and para-church organizations and come up with one big event that will accommodate both the saved and the unsaved. Youth Fest is short for ‘youth festival’ and is basically the gathering of young people who have come together to celebrate. The reason why this event is interdenominational is:
• To bring unity between young people from different churches and ministries.
• To have one big festival for the young people
• Most secular events are not limited to a certain group only, and so youth fest as an alternative for young people is not limited to a certain denomination.
• Very rarely do young people (or even the church) come together and have one event, and so this event would be a good opportunity to do so. Therefore it is our hope and prayer that Youth Fest can be able to provide a time of celebration for young people who are believers. Also much as this will be a celebration we also hope that young people who are unbelievers may be attracted to this event and be able to be witnessed to while they attend the festival. End of year is a time when a lot of activities take place, the secular society provides a lot of events that are not beneficial for young people in the Church, and Christians compromise their faith by attending such events. Youth Fest is there to provide a safe environment for young people. For Christians, it will be a time of fellowship, fun and revival as it will benefit their lives spiritually and socially through preaching, workshops and other social events. This will also be an opportunity for different ministries to work together to serve one another with different gifts that God has blessed them with. For non-Christians it will be an opportunity for them to hear and respond to the gospel. As much as this will be a fun time there will be opportunity for non-Christians to hear the gospel through Christian hip-hop, preaching and other activities. By the end of the event our desire is to see young people revived and ready to live their lives wholly for Christ. It is also our greatest desire to see young people give their lives to Christ. With this in mind all our events are targeted on imparting the knowledge of Christ and glorifying Him alone even through our social events.
