A new study shows intermittent fasting could protect against strokes and heart attacks.
Researchers found that fasting boosts a gut-bacteria metabolite called IPA, which reduces blood clot formation by calming overactive platelets. In mice, it even mimicked the effects of common heart medications — and worked with them for stronger protection.
It’s not just about when you eat — it’s about how your gut and heart talk to each other. A simple rhythm of restraint might be one of the most powerful medicines we already have.

An elderly woman (95) beats fellow nursing home resident (89) to death with a wheelchair part in Brooklyn.

In a heartbreaking tragedy that has rattled the local community, an 89-year-old woman was fatally bludgeoned during a dispute inside the Seagate Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on Sunday night.

Authorities say the victim was repeatedly struck in the head with a metal wheelchair component during an altercation with a fellow resident. She was rushed to Lutheran Hospital, where she later died from her injuries. Her identity has not yet been released, pending family notification.

The alleged attacker, a 95-year-old woman suffering from dementia, has not been charged due to her cognitive condition. She has been transferred to Coney Island Hospital for medical observation.

Eyewitnesses described a verbal argument that escalated rapidly, ending in the deadly assault. By Monday morning, a section outside the nursing home was cordoned off with blue police tape, where the twisted piece of wheelchair metal remained on the pavement.

The Seagate Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, located just steps from the Coney Island boardwalk, serves as a rehabilitation and long-term care facility for seniors. The center has not yet issued a public statement, leaving many families of residents anxious about safety protocols.

This incident comes amid broader concerns over staffing shortages and care for residents with dementia in long-term facilities. Experts note that while disagreements between seniors in communal living are not unusual, fatal incidents remain rare. Advocates are now calling for improved de-escalation training and closer supervision in nursing homes.

🚨 Warning: Don’t Trust AI for Medical or Dietary Advice! 🚨

A 60-year-old man ended up in the hospital after asking ChatGPT how to replace salt in his diet. The AI suggested sodium bromide—a toxic chemical used in pesticides—not a safe salt substitute. He used it for three months and developed serious poisoning symptoms like paranoia and hallucinations.

This shows how dangerous it is to rely on AI for health advice. AI can give confident but deadly wrong answers.

Moral: Always consult a real doctor or dietitian before making changes to your health or diet. Don’t risk your life because of AI misinformation.

Stay safe and be smart! 💡

The Decline of Human Connection to Nature: A 60% Drop Since the 1800s

A recent study by Professor Miles Richardson from the University of Derby highlights a significant and alarming decline in humanity’s connection with nature over the last two centuries. By analyzing data on urban expansion, decreasing wildlife presence in residential areas, and the diminishing transmission of nature experiences from parents to children, the study reveals a 60% reduction in nature connectedness since 1800.

findings include:

A marked decrease in nature-related language in literature, with words such as “river” and “blossom” declining by 60.6% by 1990 and remaining 52.4% below historical levels today.

Urban residents spend minimal time outdoors; for example, people in Sheffield average only 4.5 minutes per day in natural settings.

The loss of nature experience is projected to continue unless substantial interventions are implemented.

Professor Richardson’s computer models emphasize that short-term campaigns or isolated nature activities are insufficient to reverse this long-term trend. Instead, sustainable, systemic changes are required, including:

Significantly increasing urban greening efforts to create accessible, biodiverse environments.

Implementing early childhood education programs modeled on forest schools to foster enduring connections with nature.

Enacting and maintaining policies over decades that integrate nature interaction into daily life.

The study warns that while children are inherently inclined to enjoy nature, this bond is vulnerable and can be severed without consistent exposure through family, education, and community environments.

To restore and sustain humanity’s relationship with the natural world, comprehensive and long-lasting commitments to greening urban spaces and nature-based education are essential.

🌅 Morning Habits That Keep Your Heart Strong — Backed by Cardiologists ❤️

Your heart never takes a break. From the moment you’re born until your last breath, it works day and night to keep you alive. The least we can do is start each day with habits that make its job easier — and according to cardiologists, the morning is the best time to give your heart a head start.

💨 1. Begin with Deep Breathing
Right after waking up, take a few minutes to breathe deeply and slowly. This simple act calms your nervous system, lowers stress hormones, and helps reduce blood pressure — all of which take pressure off your heart.

💧 2. Hydrate Before Anything Else
Your body loses water while you sleep, which thickens your blood and makes your heart work harder. Drinking water first thing in the morning helps your blood flow smoothly and keeps your heart from straining.

🍳 3. Eat a Heart-Friendly Breakfast
Skipping breakfast or grabbing a sugary snack can spike blood sugar and bad cholesterol. Instead, go for foods like oats, whole grains, fruits, or eggs. They provide lasting energy and keep your cardiovascular system in balance.

🚶‍♀️ 4. Move for at Least 15 Minutes
A short walk, some stretches, or light exercise in the morning boosts blood circulation, strengthens your heart muscle, and sets a healthy tone for the day.

☀️ 5. Get Natural Sunlight
Morning sunlight helps regulate your body clock, improves mood, and supports vitamin D production — which is linked to better heart health.

🥗 6. Choose Foods That Protect Your Heart
Make sure your breakfast or morning snack includes heart-friendly ingredients like berries, fatty fish, leafy greens, nuts, olive oil, beans, avocados, and tomatoes. These are packed with antioxidants, healthy fats, and nutrients that fight inflammation.

🚫 7. Avoid the Silent Enemies
Even in the morning, be mindful of habits that hurt your heart — high salt intake, smoking, sitting for too long, and carrying unnecessary stress.
