Are you truly the person God wants you to be?
This is one of most sobering questions every believer must ask. Because in today's world, many are busy "doing" things without "becoming" what God intended.
One can be rich, famous, or even respected in religious circles yet not be walking in their true destiny. Destiny is not about titles, prosperity, or popularity; it is about fulfilling God’s purpose for your life.
“Prosperity is not evidence of calling. The end will prove whether what you are doing is your calling from God.” – TB Joshua
1. What Is Destiny?
Destiny is what God has appointed you to be and do before you were even born.
It is different from ambition (what you want to become).
It is different from career (what pays your bills).
It is different from talent (what you’re naturally good at).
The reward of a person of God is genuine peace of heart and a legacy that endures for generations.” — TB Joshua
2. First Step to Discovering Destiny: Know God Better
The first step to discovering destiny is to know God better personally.
Some think because they dream or declare that rain will fall and it comes to pass, they are called to be pastor, prophet, Bishop etc.
NO, The Spirit may convict or use a person, but unless one is recreated by the Word, God cannot make His home in them (John 4:24).
This is what the Bible calls sense-knowledge Christianity. Like Thomas in John 20:24, who said:
“Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”
In the same way, many today only believe what they can see, touch, and feel—not what God has revealed by His Spirit.
The principal source of destiny discovery is the Word of God. You must live in the Word and the Word must live in You, not just in your memory.
3. Case Studies of Destiny Achievers in the Bible and Our Generation
Joseph — Destiny Through Dreams
Despite betrayal and imprisonment, Joseph’s destiny was preserved. He became governor of Egypt and saved nations from famine (Genesis 50:20).
Lesson: Your destiny may look delayed, but it cannot be denied.
His destiny was not the coat of many colors—it was his spiritual gift of interpretation and administration God placed within him.
Moses — Destiny Through Deliverance
Raised in Pharaoh’s palace but destined to deliver Israel. His destiny was revealed not in comfort but in a burning bush encounter (Exodus 3:10).
Lesson: Destiny is not found in status but in surrender.
His destiny was not in being Pharaoh’s adopted son, but in leading God’s people out of bo***ge by God’s power.
David — Destiny Through Devotion
An overlooked shepherd boy became king. His destiny was revealed in his heart for God, long before the crown (Acts 13:22).
Lesson: True destiny begins in the secret place, not the throne.
Esther — Destiny Through Courage
God positioned Esther in the palace to save her people (Esther 4:14).
Lesson: Her destiny was not the crown, but the assignment of intercession and deliverance.
Mary — Destiny Through Surrender
Mary’s destiny was sealed when she said, “Be it unto me according to Your Word.” (Luke 1:38).
Lesson: Destiny responds to God’s Word with obedience.
Prophet TB Joshua — A Modern Example
From a humble background, rejected by many, but yielded to God—he fulfilled his divine destiny through healing, deliverance, prophecy, and love that reached millions.
Lesson: The end, not the beginning, proves destiny.
“The beginning is not the owner, but the finisher. The end will prove whether it is a calling from God.” — TB Joshua
5. How Do You Know You’re Walking in Destiny?
You experience peace of heart (John 14:27).
️Your work glorifies God, not you.
️You grow in spiritual gifts that serve others (1 Corinthians 12:7).
️You leave a legacy that outlives you.
Finally People of God,
Destiny is not about what you choose—it is about what God has already chosen for you.
Your destiny is not your career, title, or position—it is your calling.
And your calling is revealed in your spiritual gift.
Prayer:
“Lord, take more of me and give me more of You. Reveal to me who You created me to be. Let me walk in my true destiny, not in my ambition. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
Good Morning brethren!
