Day 2: Study on Luther’s Reformation History and Lutheran Identity

Understanding the Righteousness of God:
Thanking God’s grace and salvation which God gives sinners by having faith in Jesus Christ. Indeed, the Holy Scripture always guides us that man cannot contribute any good deeds to our salvation. But it solely based on a free gift of God through faith in Jesus Christ.

The participants thanked the lecturers of this year pastoral training for their great contributions to help them understand the importance knowledge of the Lutheran confessions and the Luther’s Reformation history as well as Five Solas on the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther.

We thank you so much for your invaluable prayers for the successful completion of two days training.

May the Lord bless you and grant you strength to continue serving the Lord and His people amid fragmented world! Amen.

Glory be to the Lord forever! Amen.

In Christ,
James

Day 1:
2026 Pastoral Training on Lutheranism and Mission
Topic: Study on Luther’s Reformation History and Lutheran Identity
Lecturer: Rev. James San Aung, General Secretary

We thank God for sending trainers from abroad to provide the important training on “Lutheran Distinctive Training” under the good leadership of the bishops and pastors from the Lutheran Church in Malaysia and Singapore to our church leaders with the support of the Mekong Mission Forum. We specially thank an outstanding Lutheran theologian Professor Dr. Stefan for his great commitment to train the Mekong church leaders in this area.

The important decision made by the MLC Central Church Council meeting date to 25 October 2025, this training is conducted to teach our church leaders in our own language and followed by meaningful discussions. Our church leadership team understands the need of the continuing education for our pastors in the areas of Lutheran confessions.

Indeed, it is crucial to understand the remarkable history of our honorable Dr. Martin Luther, a distinguished scholar, a biblical theologian, a musician, an education promoter, so on during his time in Europe.

Without having a good understanding of how Dr. Martin Luther fought for the true Gospel in his lifetime, it will be easier for the believers to be misled by today’s worldly unsound doctrines imposed by the human understanding. Once Luther said “ Here I Stand”, which should be the same Stand of today’s believers.

Being the follower of Jesus Christ, we are called to stand firm in faith which comes from hearing and it comes from the Holy Word of God.

As Luther strongly believe the Supremacy of the Holy Scripture for marriage, doctrines and Christian life, we are called to uphold this biblical mandate today.

We are saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. And it is not what we can receive by doing our own good work. In this training, we learn each other as our theme stated.

Thank you so much for your continued prayers and support for the important work of the gospel proclamation in Myanmar/ Burma with us.

Glory be to the Lord forever!

In Christ,
James

Topic: The importance of understanding the Resurrection Day of Jesus Christ for the lives of Believers

Text: 1Corinthians 15:1-23)

1. The Resurrection Day proves us Jesus’ victory over Death (1Corinthians. 15:1-11)

Once Jesus said,” I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die.” (John 11:25). This Bible verse tells us that Jesus did not remain in the grave, rather he overcame it.

2. The Resurrection Day of Jesus gives us the eternal life (1Corinthians.15:12-20)

When we read the power message of the Apostle Paul in Romans 6:4, he told us that just as Christ raised from the dead, we all will raise again from the dead.
The Resurrection Day of Jesus a new hope, life and victory over our sins. This also shows us that the death is not our ending, but through Christ we are overcomer of the death.

All people in this world will die one day for sure because of our sinful nature. But only those who believe in the name of Jesus will be saved.

3. The Resurrection Day of Jesus grants us the Forgiveness of Our Sins by the Lord Almighty (Ephesians 1:7)

According to Ephesians 1:7, here Apostle Paul clearly states that our sins are forgiven through the shedding blood of Jesus Christ on the Cross.

May the Lord give you a true understanding of the importance of the Resurrection Day, and may the Lord grant us love, peace and, forgiving spirit each other! Amen.

A blessed Good Friday Worship Service
Trinity Lutheran Congregation
Chairman: Rev. James San Aung
Benediction: Bishop Dr. Moses Mang

Reflections on the Seven Words of Jesus on the Cross

Bishop Dr. Moses Mang
1. “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing”. (Luke 23:34)

2. ”Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise”.(Luke 23:43)

Rev. Shwe Hla Win
3. ”Woman, here is your son… Here is your mother”. (John 19:26-27)

Rev. James San Aung
4. ”My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”(Matthew 27:46)

Bishop Dr. Moses Mang
5. ”I thirst”. (Matthew 19:28)

Rev. James San Aung
6. ”It is finished”. (John 19:30)

7. ”Father, into your hands I commit my spirit”.
( Luke 23:46).

Dear Father God, we came before you with a humble heart, thanking You for sending Jesus to die for our sins and saving us from the eternal judgment of death.
May this Great Friday be a turning point for all sinners of this world to You and confess as You are the Master every soul of all human being! Amen.

In Christ,

Recap: From Palm Sunday to the Cross
And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. (Matthew 21:9)

This is AI created image of the Palm Sunday based on the Myanmar cultural context. Jesus rides on a humble donkey to greet the sinners of the world with a humble heart.

However, Jesus will not ride on a donkey but a powerful horse when He comes back second time to judge and have a powerful dominion over the Satan with His Saints.

By looking at today’s world challenging occurrences, it remains each and every one to be faithful to the Gospel and be ready to proclaim it to all nations with
full confidence. Come, Lord and save us!

May the peace of Christ be with you and your family always! Amen.

Joel 2:12-13

Dear Friends, God is inviting everyone of us to return to Him with all our hearts. The Almighty God is not seeking the outward appearance as the human being does, but He looks at the heart.

We are invited to remember that true repentance is not outward performance, real surrender with the contrite heart. Remember, we are the dust. He invites us to come to Him as we are. The Burmese proverb says, “ Let only man comes, but no problems shall be invited. But God is inviting us, all sinners just come as we are. He sent his beloved Son, Jesus Christ to be born as a human being, he takes away our sin.

Whenever we return to Him, our broken relationship is restored, and when we confess our sins He forgives us.

In conclusion, now, let us return wholeheartedlyto God, trusting His steadfast love to renew, redeem, and revive us by His grace.

May God help us to walk in the truth and to follow His will, and may the Lord grant us peace!
