The Shwe Dagon Pagoda is the second largest and most impressive Pagoda in Myanmar, With its grandeur the almost 100 meter high Pagoda built on a 30 meter high hill as well as the many beautiful pavillions and small Pagodas make it the most fabulous site in this world.

This is the full moon day on which the Buddha gave his first Discourse. Many devotees visit the Great Pagoda to.pay respect to the relics and recite the protecting gathas.
Some may even join in the recitatie of the First Sermon, the Dhammacakkapavattana sutta.
Today alsomarks the start of the Waso, the three month retreat period of the Sangha.
