🔔 ဒီမှာမရှိတဲ့လူတွေ မုဒိတာဖြစ်ဖို့အတွက် အရင်ဆုံးပြောပါရစေ။
🔔 It’s more than coincidence that tomorrow is Women’s day and today Sakyadhītā Buddhist College in Yangon is holding it’s First Convocation here in Yangon at the Summit Parkview Hotel.
🔔 More than half of the population in this country are women and of course these days we have a lot of educated women setting up Colleges, international schoolsand private schools leading in education. But we don’t have many in Buddhist studies or in religious studies in general. For that reason, today is a day that we all should rejoice.
🔔 I know the leading nuns Daw Kusalavatī from Sakyadhītā teaching nunnery institute in Sagaing, a big part of this Sakyadhītā Buddhist College in Yangon. You will recall that just a year ago, this country Myanmar experienced one of the greatest earthquakes in a century. And the nunnery before that a leading light in traditional Buddhist studies in Myanmar. They came first in every level in the government sponsored exams.
🔔 But the whole nunnery collapsed, Daw Kusalavatī who said had to be pulled from the rubble by the monks and nuns. She couldn’t move and all thought she was paralyzed for life. Thankfully to the expertise of the medical professionalshere in Myanmar and also in Thailand, today she is here with us.
🔔 You can now see the determination, the unwavering dedication that these nuns have towards Buddhism, towards peace, towards the development of humanity itself.
🔔 I say the development of humanities itself because I think I know almost every faculty member at this SakyadhītāBuddhist College.
The two Principals Professor Dr. Nimalaand also Profesor Dr. Yuzana Nyani have been working with me at the International Theravāda Buddhist Missionary University (ITBMU) and also at Shan State Buddhist University (SSBU). They have been a big part in both institutions.
🔔 And now they have their own institution to look for, to look after, to take care of. And I think I also recognize all the other faculty members, the learned lady scholars from the ITBMU who are also now part of the SBC.
🔔 I should say it’s rare in Asia, or may be in any other countries for a group of nuns to have their own institution and also to offer Buddhist teachings in English. And all of them are competent and confident doing this. I say this again because I have been working with them and I know them quite well.
🔔 For them, to be holding their first convocation today, and you can see in the number of graduates, we know that the nuns themselves form the majority of the graduates. But youalso see the non-ordained: ladies and indeed gentlemen, we even have one Buddhist monk graduating today.
It’s open to everyone virtually, everyone can just walk in, register and learn from these learned nuns.
🔔 The two Principals, one of them, Dr. Nimala did her PhD in meditation, she specializes in “Living Meditation Tradition in Myanmar. The other Dr. Yuzana Nyani is a specialist in Abhidhamma. She assisted our teacher Rector Sayadaw Dr. Nandamālābhivaṁsa in many of his tours to Europe, Singapore and other oversea trips. They are confident in what they do and people not just the nuns recognize them.
🔔 The main thing is that to see how resilient they are, a year after the earthquake now we have the convocation and I would like to invite everyone here in Myanmar and also oversea to connect with this important institution, SakyadhītāBuddhist College.
🔔 Today, I would like offer my highest esteem and also congratulation to all the leading nuns and faculty members for their hard work, I rejoice seeing this occasion. And I also would like to offer my warmest congratulations to all the graduates.
🔔 I just would like to share with you one very short email that I receive from my supervisor Prof. Dr. Richard Gombrichat the University of Oxford on the day I graduated with my doctorate.
🔔 “A doctorate degree is a beginning of learning, not the end.” 🔔
That was it.
🔔 And I hope you take this message seriously because in the Buddhist tradition, the Buddha talks about threefold training (sikkhā). Without training, that isn’t Buddhism.
🔔 Actually we are training to be a trainee and a stream-enterer, a lowest level, is considered an official training. And one becomes enlightened and an arahant, one completes the training. But in and after they have completed their training, we can see the Chief disciple of the BuddhaVenerable Sāriputta was too learning from everyone, Venerable Arahat Puṇṇa, Arahat Kaccāyana, he would learn from them. Actually he was more intelligent to those monks in knowledge but he never stop learning.
🔔 Again, a proverb from Oxford goes like this.
“You graduated yesterday, you stop learning today, you become uneducated tomorrow.”
🔔 I hope you continue to be educated throughout your life.
⭐️ မုဒိတာကထာနည်းနည်းပြောရမယ်ဆိုရင် အထူးသဖြင့် သကျဓီတာဆရာလေးများ ဗုဒ္ဓကောလိပ်ရဲ့ ပထမဆုံး ဘွဲ့နှင်းသဘင်ကိုမတက်ရောက်နိုင်တဲ့ ပြည်တွင်း၊ ပြည်ပဗုဒ္ဓပရိတ်သတ်များလည်း မုဒိတာဖြစ်နိုင်အောင် ဘုန်းဘုန်းက ပြောပြချင်ပါတယ်။
⭐️ အဲဒါကဘာတုန်းဆိုတော့ Sakyadhītā
“သကျဓီတာ” ဆိုတာ အမျိုးသမီး များ ထေရဝါဒ၊ မဟာယာန၊ ဝဇိရာယာန အတူတူပူးပေါင်းပြီးတော့ တစ်နှစ်တစ်ကြိမ် အစည်းအဝေးလုပ်တာ ၁၉၉၃ ခုနှစ်မှာ လား၊ ၁၉၉၄ မှာလားမသိဘူး၊ သီရိလင်္ကာနိုင်ငံ၊ ကိုလံဘိုမြို့မှာ ကျင်းပတဲ့ သကျဓီတာ အစည်း အဝေးကို ဘုန်းဘုန်းတက်ရပါတယ်။
အဲဒီတုန်းကတော့ အောက်စ်ဖို့ဒ်ဆရာတော်မဖြစ် သေးဘူး။ ဦးဇင်းငယ် လေးဘဲ ရှိသေးတာပေ့ါ။
⭐️ အဲဒီအချိန်မှာ ပါမောက္ခချုပ်ဆရာတော်ကြီး ဒေါက်တာနန္ဒမာလာဘိဝံသကလည်း ဒီ ကိုလံဘိုမှာ ရှိနေ ပါသေးတယ်။ ဆရာတော်ကြီးက YMBA အသင်းမှာ သူ့ရဲ့ကိုယ်စား သူသင်တဲ့ အဘိဓမ္မာသင်တန်းတွေ ပို့ချ ခိုင်းပါတယ်။ အဲဒီကနေပြီးတော့ ဘုန်းဘုန်းကလည်းဘဲ ဘုန်းကြီးကျောင်းရဲ့အပြင်ဖက်မှာရှိတဲ့ ဗုဒ္ဓဘာသာ တွေကိုစတင်ပြီးတော့ စိတ်ဝင်စားလာတယ်။ စနေနေ့တိုင်း YMBA အသင်းမှာ သွားပြီးတော့ စာသင်ပေးတဲ့ အလုပ်ရယ် နောက်ပြီးတော့ ပါလီမန်အမတ်တစ်ယောက် တစ်လတစ်ကြိမ်ကျင်းပတဲ့ အင်္ဂလိပ်ဘာသာနဲ့ ဟောတဲ့တရားပွဲရယ်၊ တစ်ခါတစ်ခါလည်းပင့်လို့သွားဟောတယ်၊ တစ်ခါတစ်ခါလည်း တရားသွားနာတယ်။
⭐️ နောက်တစ်ခုက ဒီ သကျဓီတာ International Conference ကိုတက်ရတဲ့ အတွေ့အကြုံပါဘဲ။ အဲဒီမှာ တခြားနိုင်ငံက ဗုဒ္ဓဘာသာတွေ အထူးသဖြင့် အမျိုးသမီးဗုဒ္ဓဘာသာခေါင်းဆောင်တွေ သူတို့ရဲ့မိန့်ခွန်းတွေ သွားနားထောင်တယ်။ သူတို့ရဲ့စာတမ်းတွေ သွားယူလာပြီးတော့ဖတ်တယ်။
အဲဒီဟာနဲ့ နာမည်ချင်းတူတယ်။

⭐️ ခုနတုန်းက ပါမောက္ခချုပ် ဆရာတော်ကြီးမိန့်တဲ့အတိုင်း ဗုဒ္ဓရဲ့သမီးတော်။ ဒီနိုင်ငံမှာ သကျဓီတာ ဆိုပြီးတော့ စာသင်တိုက်။ စစ်ကိုင်းမှာ နာမည်ကြီးစာသင်တိုက်ရှိတာ ပရိယတ္တိသာသနာစိတ်ဝင်စားတဲ့ ဥပါသကာ၊ ဥပါသိကာ သာသနာပြုဒကာတွေအားလုံးသိကြပါလိမ့်မယ်။ ဒီထက်ပိုပြီးတော့ စိတ်ဝင်စားတယ် ဆိုရင်တော့ အစိုးရဓမ္မာစရိယနဲ့ ပထမပြန်စာမေးပွဲမှာ နှစ်စဥ်နှစ်စဥ် ၁၊ ၂၊ ၃ နေရာတွေကို အဲဒီဆရာလေးတွေ သကျဓီတာကျောင်းတိုက်ကရတာများတယ်။
အဲဒီလို ဘုန်းဘုန်းတို့ရဲ့ နံပါတ် (၁) သီလရှင်များရဲ့ စာသင်တိုက် ဆိုပါတော့။
⭐️ မနှစ်က ငလျင်ဒဏ်ထိ တာ ဘာမှမကျန်တော့ဘူး။ အခုတိုက်အုပ်ဆရာကြီးဒေါ်ကုသလဝတီ ခုနတုန်းကဒီရှေ့မှာထိုင်တယ်။ အခု ထက်ထိ ကြမ်းပြင်ပေါ်မထိုင်နိုင်သေးဘူး။ မနှစ်က မြေငလျင်လှုပ်တဲ့အခါကျတော့ပိနေတာပေါ့။ သံဃာတွေ ကော၊ တပည့်သီလရှင်တွေရော လူပုဂ္ဂိုလ်တွေရော သွားပြီးတော့ဆွဲထုတ်လာလို့၊ အသက်ရှင်မှရှင်ပါ့မလား၊ အသက်ရှင်ပြန်တော့လည်းဘဲ ရာသက်ပန်အိပ်ယာထဲမှာဘဲနေရမလား။ ထိုင်းသွားပြီး ဆေးကုတော့လည်း ထမ်းစင် (stretcher) နဲ့ကြွရတယ်လေ။
⭐️ ဒီနေ့ကျတော့ တစ်နှစ်တောင် ကောင်းကောင်းမပြည့်သေးဘူး။ ဆရာကြီးဒေါ်ကုသလဝတီက
ဒီရှေ့မှာထိုင်ပြီးတော့ သူ့တပည့်တွေကြည့်ပြီး မုဒိတာဖြစ်နေတာ၊ ပီတိဖြစ်နေတာ။ တစ်ခါမှ
မြေငလျင်မလှုပ်ဖူးတဲ့ပုံစံမျိုး။ ဒီနေ့ ဘွဲ့နှင်းသဘင်အခမ်းအနားမှာ ဘုန်းဘုန်းက
အဲဒါသတိပြု မိတယ်။ တကယ်လည်း အမျိုးသမီးသာသနာပြုများ အထူးအားဖြင့် ဆရာလေးများရဲ့ ကြံ့ကြံ့ခိုင်နိုင်စွမ်း (resilience) ကို ဘုန်းဘုန်း မုဒိတာအင်မတန်ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။
⭐️ ဒီရန်ကုန်မှာတည်ရှိတဲ့ သကျဓီတာဗုဒ္ဓကောလိပ် ဦးဆောင်ဆရာကြီး (၂) ပါး၊ ပါမောက္ခ
ဒေါက်တာ နိမလနဲ့ ဒေါက်တာယုဇနဉာဏီ ကျတော့ ဘုန်းဘုန်းကသူတို့ Master လုပ်ကတည်းက သိလာတာ၊ ရင်းနှီးလာ တဲ့ဆရာလေးတွေပါ။ သူတို့ New Delhi တက္ကသိုလ်မှာ PhDသွားလုပ်တော့လည်း သူတို့ဆီရောက်ဖြစ်ပါသေး တယ်။ ဆရာလေးဒေါက်တာနိမလဆိုရင် “မြန်မာနိုင်ငံ လက်ရှိထင်ရှားနေတဲ့ တရားရှုမှတ်နည်း” တွေကို Specialize လုပ်ပြီးတော့ New Delhi တက္ကသိုလ်မှာ PhDလုပ်ထားတာပါ။ ဆရာလေး ဒေါက်တာယုဇနဉာဏီ ကျတော့ အဘိဓမ္မာနဲ့ Emotion နဲ့ Specialize လုပ်ထားတယ်။ ပါမောက္ခချုပ်ဆရာတော်ကြီး ဥရောပနှင့် စင်္ကာပူ နိုင်ငံခြား အဘိဓမ္မာဒေသနာခရီးစဉ်တွေကြွတယ်ဆိုရင် ဆရာလေး ဒေါက်တာယုဇနကိုခေါ်ပြီးတော့ လက်ထောက်
ဆရာအနေနဲ့ အသုံးပြုပါတယ်။
⭐️ အဲဒီကနေပြီးတော့ ဒီနေ့ သကျဓီတာဗုဒ္ဓကောလိပ်ပေါ်လာတယ်။ မသိသေးရင်ဒီနေ့တော့ အထူးကြေငြာပေးရမယ်။ ဆရာလေးတွေ တခြားဗုဒ္ဓတက္ကသိုလ်တွေမှာလည်း ပညာဆည်းပူးနိုင်ပါတယ်။ ပညာဆည်းပူးခွင့်တော်တော်များများရရှိပါတယ်။ ဒါပေမယ့်ဆရာလေးများဦးဆောင်တဲ့ ဗုဒ္ဓတက္ကသိုလ်၊ ဗုဒ္ဓ ကောလိပ်ကတော့ သိပ်ရှားပါတယ်။ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံမှာ အမျိုးသမီးထုတစ်ဝက် လောက်ရှိတာ၊ မနက်ဖြန်ဆို အမျိုးသမီးများနေ့ကို ဒီနေ့ ဘွဲ့နှင်းသဘင်နဲ့ ဂုဏ်ပြုလိုက်တာအသင့်လျော်ဆုံးပါဘဲ၊ အသင့်လျော်ဆုံးပါဘဲ။

Normally, you wouldn’t expect me to be there on the Women’s Day.
⭐️ ဒီနေ့ကျတော့ ဒီ SBC ရဲ့ ဒီဘွဲ့နှင်းသဘင်မှာပါဝင်ခွင့်ရတာ ဘုန်းဘုန်းအနေနဲ့ တကယ့်ကို မုဒိတာဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ ဘယ်လောက်ထိခက်ခဲတယ်ဆိုတာ ဘုန်းဘုန်းသိပါတယ်။ ဆရာမတွေ အပြည်ပြည်ဆိုင်ရာ ထေရဝါဒတက္ကသိုလ်ကနေပြီးတော့ နှစ်ပေါင်းများစွာအတွေ့အကြုံရှိတဲ့ ဆရာမကြီးတွေ ဒီ SBC ရောက်လာပြီးတော့ အတူတကွအလုပ်လုပ်တာ၊ အဲဒါကို ဘုန်းဘုန်းကကြည့်ပြီးတော့ Teamwork အရမ်းကောင်းတာဘဲ။ I would like to congratulate you on that as well.
⭐️ အဲတော့ မုဒိတာအနေနဲ့ဆိုရင် ပထမဆုံး သီလရှင်ဆရာကြီးများ၊ ဆရာမကြီးများကို
အထူးမုဒိတာပွါးပါတယ်။ ကျောင်းလည်းရောက်ဖူးတယ်။ ဘယ်လောက်ထိခက်ခဲတယ်ဆိုတာလည်းဘဲ ဘုန်းဘုန်းမျက်မြင်ကိုယ်တွေ့။
အဲဒီကနေပြီးတော့ ဒီနေ့ ကျောင်းသား ကျောင်းသူများလက်မှတ်ပေးနိုင်တာ Convocation လုပ်နိုင်တာ ဒါကတော့ သမိုင်းဝင်တဲ့နေ့ တစ်နေ့ပါဘဲ။
⭐️ ဘွဲ့ရဆရာလေးများတင်မကဘူး၊ ဘွဲ့ရတဲ့ထဲမှာ လူပုဂ္ဂိုလ် နဲ့ ဥပါသိကာများလည်းပါတယ်။ အဲဒါတင် မကဘူး ဆရာလေးတွေရဲ့ကောလိပ်က
ဖွင့်ပေးတာ၊ အမျိုးသားတွေလည်းပါတယ်။ သံဃာတော်ပါ ပါတယ်။ Open toeveryone, open arms. တစ်ခါထဲ လက်ခံပြီးတော့ သင်ကြားပေးတယ်ပေ့ါ။
⭐️ အဲတော့ လေ့လာတဲ့နေရာမှာ ဘုန်းဘုန်းတို့ ကျေးဇူးတော်ရှင်ပါမောက္ခချုပ်ဆရာတော်ကြီး
မိန့်သွားတာ အမြဲမပြတ် ဆက်လက်ပြီးတော့ဆက်ကြိုးစားဖို့ constant effort ဆိုတာလေး
မိန့်သွားတယ်။ Buddhist Psychology မှာ မြတ်စွာဘုရားဟောကြားထားတဲ့ တရားကို interpretလုပ်ရမယ်ဆိုရင် ကြာပန်းလိုပေါ့။
⭐️ ရွှံ့ထဲကနေပြီးတော့ ရေပြင်ပေါ်အထိရောက်အောင် အကုန်လုံးတက်ကြတယ်။
အဲဒီတက်တဲ့ ဘုန်းဘုန်းတို့မှာ innate ability ဆရာတော်ကြီးမိန့်တာတော့ ‘ဇာတိပညာ’ ဆိုတာပေါ့။ အဲဒါလေး ဘုန်းဘုန်းတို့မှာရှိတယ်။ အထက်ကိုဘဲ တက်တယ်။ ရွှံ့အောက်ကနေ
ရွှံ့ပေါ်ရောက်တယ်။ ရေနက်တဲ့နေရာကနေပြီးတော့ အထက်ကိုတက်တယ်။ တဖြည်းဖြည်းတက်လာတယ်။
⭐️ Human consciousness ရဲ့ revolution ကိုပြောတာပါ။ ဘာလို့လဲဆိုတော့ Habitsတွေက sub-conscious ပေါ်မှာ မသိစိတ်ထဲမှာနေတယ်ဆိုရင် ရေပြင်ရဲ့အပေါ်ကိုရောက်သွားတဲ့ ကြာပန်းကတော့ sub-conscious habit ကနေ fully conscious habit အဲဒါနဲ့နေပါတယ်လို့။
Transformation
⭐️ ဒါဖြင့် အပေါ်ကိုရောက်ပြီးရင်ကော အဲဒီကြာပန်းက pension အငြိမ်းစားယူသွားရောလား။ Retired မရှိဘူးတဲ့။ ရှင်သာရိပုတ္တရာအရှင်မြတ် ရဟန္တာဖြစ်ပြီးတဲ့နောက်ပိုင်းကျမှ တစ်ခါထည်း အလုပ်တွေပိုပြီးတော့ လုပ်တယ်။ လေ့လာသင်ကြားတဲ့နေရာမှာ ဥပမာ တစ်ချို့ရဟန္တာ
မန္တာနိပုတ္တပုဏ္ဏမထေရ် ပဉ္စဝဂ္ဂီရဟန္တာ ကောဏ္ဍရဲ့တူတော်နဲ့တွေ့တဲ့အခါ သူတို့တွေတရားဆွေးနွေးတာ ရဟန္တာအရှင်ကစ္စာယနနဲ့တရားဆွေးနွေးတာ ရှင်သာရိပုတ္တရာမထေရ်က အမြဲတမ်းလေ့လာနေတယ်။ လေ့လာတာ ဘယ်တော့မှမရပ်ဘူး။
⭐️ ဒါ့ကြောင့် ဒီနေ့ ကျောင်းသား၊
ကျောင်းသူများကို ဘုန်းဘုန်းက Congratulate လုပ်တဲ့အနေနဲ့ ပြောရင်းနဲ့ ဘာလေးပြောချင်တုန်းဆိုတော့ Oxford တက္ကသိုလ်မှာ ဘုန်းဘုန်း PhD
ရတဲ့နေ့မှာ Supervisor (ကျမ်းကြီးကြပ်သူ) Professor Dr. Richard Gombrich ကဘာလေးပို့တုန်းဆိုတော့
“PhD ရတာ လေ့လာမှုရဲ့အစပါတဲ့။ အဆုံးမဟုတ်ပါဘူး”တဲ့။
⭐️ ဆရာကြီးက Emailတိုတိုလေးပို့တယ်။ သူ Email တွေအများကြီးပို့တယ်။ ဘုန်းဘုန်းက အဲဒီတစ်ခုတော့ အလွတ်ကျက်ထားတယ်။ တိုလည်းတိုတယ်။ အဲဒါကြောင့်မို့လို့ အရှေ့ဆက်လက်လေ့လာဖို့အတွက် ဒီနေ့ သကျဓီတာဗုဒ္ဓကောလိပ် ကနေပြီးတော့ အခြေခံကောင်းကောင်းတွေပေးလိုက်တယ်။
⭐️ Oxford ကဘဲ အဆိုလေးတစ်ခုနဲ့အဆုံးသတ်မယ်။ ဒီမုဒိတာနဲ့ အဲဒါက ဘာတုန်းဆိုတော့
“မနေ့ကဘွဲ့ရပြီး ဒီနေ့ရှေ့ဆက်မလေ့လာတဲ့သူက မနက်ဖြန်ကျတော့ ဘာမှမတတ်တော့ဘူး။”
⭐️ ရှေ့ဆက်လက်ပြီးတော့ ကိုယ့်ရဲ့လေ့လာသင်အံမှုစွမ်းအားကို အများနဲ့မျှဝေပေးနိုင်အောင် မျှဝေပေးနိုင်တဲ့ ကြာပန်းတစ်ပွင့်ဖြစ်အောင်ကြိုးစားဖို့အတွက်တိုက်တွန်းရင်း နိဂုံးချုပ်ပါတယ်။
